Bigma is still the bokeh king...did a bunch of bokeh tests on FM...won't bore you guys but the Bigma kept edging the GM out. So I'm keeping the Bigma for portrait work. GM is great everywhere else though, so I'll probably keep it too.

I had never really had the opportunity to shoot big waves, but after the paid work was done last week, we had two evenings off and spent one of them down at Lands End Overlook and Trails. What a fun and challenging experience. The waves were huge, the crashing against the rocks sounded like cannon's being fired. The power and energy was incredible.

Lands End is one of my favorite walks. We were at Ft. Mason Saturday. You picked a great week to be in SF, the weather is normally cold and foggy this time of year.

there was a bit of fog early in the day but it usually burned off. The clear skies made for easy shooting for my client. Not as good for sunset...

You need to come out when there's a storm coming down from the Gulf of Alaska. It makes for huge waves and amazing sunsets as the clouds begin to roll in. Forgive me for posting a Canon shot here, but there's nothing like standing on the bluff and feeling the waves shake the dirt under your feet.

Really nice. Yeah beaches down south on the gulf side don't have those epic waves.

Nice shots. The R3 does a good job in this area IMO. I'm using mine as much as the a9 these days.

I seriously considered the 50GM, but when I compared the Sony 50 GM to my FE 55 f/1.8 and my recently sold Canon EF 50 f/1.2L. The GM is ½ pound heavier and 1 inch longer than the 50L. The FE 55 is 1/3 the weigh and smaller in size and has served me well. As much as I would like to have a native E 50mm f/1.2 lens, the weight, size and the $2k price make it a hard pass for me.

On the other hand, I have surplus funds remaining from my Canon lens sales.

The 14GM is tempting, but I’ll wait and see how Lee does with the 20G.

The 55 1.8 sony/zeiss is one of my favorite lens because of those reasons. It's such a good lens, produces good renders and colors. Small and lightweight. I will never get rid of mine :)

35 2.8 is my other favorite.

my visits are always timed for shooting for a client, so I don't really get to pick...I wanted to go chase the fog on Thursday, but we had one more shoot to finish up and then Friday...no more fog.
