Bs! Post them here too lol

lol. GM bokeh is great for tightly framed shots, but it's loosely framed shots where the 35GM falls behind. Not that the GM is bad, but this is where I rationalize not selling the Bigma even though I keep the GM too :-)

It's a combination of factors...f1.2, slightly more compressed FOV on the Bigma, exaggerated further for loosely framed shots where focus breathing widens the FOV even more on the GM, strong microconrast vs the dreamy glow of the bigma

A different approach to photographing waves. The trick was finding the right shutter speed to catch the motion but not loose the texture. And a little peek-a-boo look at the Golden Gate.

These look good and sharp! I was using it yesterday and I thought maybe it's not good for people because if their face has alot of acme.. it wont be a good thing lol

But wow I thought some pictures gave me a feel of zeiss colors.

Rendering legit reminds of Loxia lenses in which they are detailed but not gritty or harsh. You extract so much detail in post without the rendering going to hell. But yeah for skintones...too revealing. Dynamic skin softener in Nik is my friend for GM files.

You need to come out when there's a storm coming down from the Gulf of Alaska. It makes for huge waves and amazing sunsets as the clouds begin to roll in. Forgive me for posting a Canon shot here, but there's nothing like standing on the bluff and feeling the waves shake the dirt under your feet.

Nice shot! Large waves are an incredible site to behold. I've been to Nazare's Praia do Norte in Central Portugal to watch the surfers on the monstrous waves there and the sheer power of the ocean is something to behold. Would have been amazing to see and photograph Garrett McNamara surf his 78ft world record wave at Nazare back in the day.:-).

Being in a Typhoon on an aircraft carrier with waves crashing over the flight deck let me know of the power of the ocean. Our Destroyer escorts had it even worse as they played submarine.

the world of small cameras has been geared toward vloggers...I really despise that word and refuse to be attached to it! Much like the term "B" Roll...really not a fan of that either!

It does look like a good camera, form factor seems unclear to me...one line says smaller like the ZV-1, the next section says form factor like the a7C, are those not pretty different? who knows what it will be! If it is like an a7C, throw a grip on it, it might be good for sports/wildlife/race cars...

Gene, that sounds epic/scary! Did you get the chance to go up in a Typhoon? In terms of what you did in the navy, is the clue in your navydoc name?! Never really put 2 and 2 together if it was!! :-)

Yeah A7C got the "vlogger" tag attached to it. It has its compromises (small EVF, single card slot, fewer controls), but the AF is better than my a7riv and it's usable in quite a lot of areas that have nothing to do with vlogging lol.

An improved IBIS adding a few more stops of stability would be very much welcome. Canon has been stomping all over Sony lately on that front. That would be something quite useful for wildlife shooting.

If it works out to be a good wildlife camera in an a7C body I hope it comes with that bling silver metallic top so I can walk around pretending to be as cool as Carlo. :p

dont forget the half case. gotta have the half case :P

yes canon has been doing pretty good for their late start in the mirrorless world. sony is fighting back and I hope they wont be wreckless and just putting things out there without much thought.

Nice shots. The R3 does a good job in this area IMO. I'm using mine as much as the a9 these days.

Thank you. the high mp helps :) I still like the R3 and I'm not even using it to it's potential. I dont have much experience with the af system yet lol. I shoot with single focus only. I'm happy with the R3, it doesnt make me feel the need to upgrade. I did however get the a7s3 for different reason and not for video :P colors on the new cameras are very good and that is the one thing I wish the R3 had, better colors. of course all can be changed in post but its nice to have to worry too much about it.

Gotta get the half case for sure! Since it will be permanently welded to my 200-600mm I won’t have to bother with L-brackets, so I can go wild on the bling. Maybe I can get the iJustine signature-edition bedazzled half-case. :p :p
