dont forget the half case. gotta have the half case :P

I like the LIM's half case I have on my X-100F, but I've never wanted one on any of my Canon or Sony bodies.

Gotta get the half case for sure! Since it will be permanently welded to my 200-600mm I won’t have to bother with L-brackets, so I can go wild on the bling. Maybe I can get the iJustine signature-edition bedazzled half-case. :p :p

Oh yeah! That'll go well with the camo cover on the lens! :p :-P

Gene, that sounds epic/scary! Did you get the chance to go up in a Typhoon? In terms of what you did in the navy, is the clue in your navydoc name?! Never really put 2 and 2 together if it was!! :-)

I'm not sure what you mean by "go up in a Typhoon?" If you mean fly, then no. :-) I was a Dental Technician in the Navy and like Navy Corpsmen, we are affectionately known as "doc". In 2005, the Navy merged the DT rating with HM (Hospital Corpsman). The US Marines, being part of the Naval Service uses Navy Corpsmen (and previously DT's as well) to take care of their medical and dental needs. We wear Marine uniforms but Navy ranks on our sleeves.

Here's a news clipping describing a civilian ore carrier that ran aground on Pratis Reef during the Typhoon and we sent our choppers over to rescue the crew. The waves were so big that they knocked one of our choppers out of the air.

Here's a photo of the chopper in the water. Fortunately, the crew was rescued along with the rest of the ore carrier's crew.

Fly or no fly, fascinating stuff. Really interesting article too. :-)

Being in a Typhoon on an aircraft carrier with waves crashing over the flight deck let me know of the power of the ocean. Our Destroyer escorts had it even worse as they played submarine.

I can't even begin to imagine that Gene, I get sea sick on a Ferry Crossing:lol:

Thank you. the high mp helps :) I still like the R3 and I'm not even using it to it's potential. I dont have much experience with the af system yet lol. I shoot with single focus only. I'm happy with the R3, it doesnt make me feel the need to upgrade. I did however get the a7s3 for different reason and not for video :P colors on the new cameras are very good and that is the one thing I wish the R3 had, better colors. of course all can be changed in post but its nice to have to worry too much about it.

The more I use it the better it gets. I use single focus on the back button focus but wide on the shutter for BIF shots. Works well.

the world of small cameras has been geared toward vloggers...I really despise that word and refuse to be attached to it! Much like the term "B" Roll...really not a fan of that either!

It does look like a good camera, form factor seems unclear to me...one line says smaller like the ZV-1, the next section says form factor like the a7C, are those not pretty different? who knows what it will be! If it is like an a7C, throw a grip on it, it might be good for sports/wildlife/race cars...

mystik610 wrote in post #19234320 (external link)
Yeah A7C got the "vlogger" tag attached to it. It has its compromises (small EVF, single card slot, fewer controls), but the AF is better than my a7riv and it's usable in quite a lot of areas that have nothing to do with vlogging lol.

David Arbogast wrote in post #19234321 (external link)
An improved IBIS adding a few more stops of stability would be very much welcome. Canon has been stomping all over Sony lately on that front. That would be something quite useful for wildlife shooting.

If it works out to be a good wildlife camera in an a7C body I hope it comes with that bling silver metallic top so I can walk around pretending to be as cool as Carlo. :p

I bought the a6400 and it was a vlogger camera. I got some pretty good bird photography done with it. I'm hoping the rumored C body will be in the larger form and it will have great AF. I want a good crop body for bird photography. Almost every shot in this gallery was the with a6400 and FE 200-600. The flight sequence was not as close as I like to shoot them and the reason for the C body and not the a9.

With the current lockdown in our city most of the Cherry Bloom locations were pretty much off limits this year so didn't get to shoot much. Quick close-up with the Sigma 105 Art, really like shooting with this lens.

Very nice. I love the 105. I've been using it for portrait sessions and I think my arms are finally built up to handle it. I managed to make it through a 2 hour, 3 family session and not needed to put the camera down haha

I think he means the Sigma 105 DG DN Macro, not the 1.4...

So had a first walkaround with the Samyang 45 last weekend, unfortunately I can't say that my first impressions about focusing quality were very positive (I didn't have the dock yet, couldn't update the firmware). Many of my photos were out of focus and, considering that the lens was apparently configured to backfocus, I can't say I was super surprised. That being said, I still managed to get nice photos, and I have to say I love the rendering of the lens. My preliminary impressions after having updated the firmware is that AF is much more snappy, including where it couldn't quite focus before, and seems to be nearly on par with that of the 35 1.8. Will look forward to see how it manages in a walkaround.

A couple from last weekend (combined with the a6600).
