Charlie and Travis, thanks to both of you. I’m ideally looking for 5-10 seconds of footage at each location for editing into my trip video. Ideally done in 10 mins, 20 max (my girlfriend will be with me and can’t see her wanting to wait for a few hours :) ). Everything at this stage will be static on a tripod and I won’t be trying day to night or anything like that. Basically want the odd landscape with cloud movement, waterfalls and the like. I’ll experiment and see what happens, if nothing else it will be a learning experience

Guys I'm back :)
As some know, in the last 3 months I've retired, gotten married, sold a house, bought a car, completed the massive
move from the city to the mountains, remodeled the house I sold and completed (never really done when married haha!)
the remodel of the 'retirement home'.

I sold my A7Riv and a9, bought the Alpha1, added a FE20/1.8.

Now to photography.
Tonight at 0100 we crossed the lake for the Milky Way vantage spot. I took my ancient a7s and the A1/used the 20/1.8 on each.
There is a reason I keep the old girl :)
Yet the A1 did just fine.
Could have done better if my fingers (on the fly-by-wire focus) were screaming after 30 min's...it was 37F/2.7c. Luckily no wind.

First up the Alpha

That's a busy 3 months!!

I've very recently picked up the 20G too - seems a very nice lens imo

Nice night shots also. Waiting to use mine for Milky Way asap....

Oh, and welcome back!

Next Timelapse question, I don’t have premier pro or Final Cut Pro (I use lumafusion). What software do I need to make the video clip from my captured images?

My go to, is 10 minutes, 2 second intervals. If the clouds are moving slowly, you can go to 5 second intervals, but it will not be as smooth. IF they are moving fast, or there is water, I like 1 second intervals. But I like to mix it up, not everything the same length if I am going to have multiple sequences in a video. It needs variety, and you need to be able to trim to fit the space you need.

You can do it with LR and PS. This is the method I use, from someone I think is a leader in the timelapse world. If it is a simple sequence.

More complicated stuff starts needing LR Timelapse, and I have not gotten there yet.

Oh, amateur tip...make sure sensor and all glass elements are clean...I just had to go through 400 frames and remove dust spots frame by frame...because they were in tricky spots that LR would not batch and do a good job...

That sure looks good, I used to love that FL. It is tempting...but I have so many things that need to be done first.

yeah i'm afraid of diving into a leica m for the experience

are you still adapting from time to time? maybe you can get the adapter that auto focus lol. its tempting to get. it only took me almost 8 years to use an adapter on the old a7r :P

earlier tonight i was trying to do manual and boy was it time consuming. switched between the 50lux and the 50gm. the 50gm really is a pleasure to shoot with sony's new body and shutter. it feels really nice. I can say it's the best lens ive ever used and own. its so much simple with af hehe. fast, sharp, bokeh, 1.2 goodness.

I have the Techart LM-Sony E auto focus adapter when I want to use the 35ZM in autofocus mode, it worked pretty well with the A7R3 but I'm not sure my copy is now defective because it doesn't seem to work consistently with the A1, at first I thought it might be the A1 but after some additional testing I'm not so sure.

I had a good number of legacy lenses that I was adapting and using but I've sold most of them and kept just the ones that I really like.

The 50GM is really super impressive, never shot a 50 that was this sharp even wide open at f 1.2 and the bokeh is just fantastic.

Dangit

So now I am back to wondering if I should do the 14GM.

I could get the 2x converter and the 20g sell the Lox 21 and I am still ahead by $$$$$ or pick up a Pentax 645 for my 6x9 film efforts

Finally sold the CV40. Going to sell my Jupiter 85 now too I think I got legacy stuff out of my system with the venture into film

Welcome back Robert. You've been a busy boy! We've missed your amazing photographs.

While everyone else has been moving forward in new gear, I've been retrograding into the past with my Kodak folding camera and film.
