An Image that I have sat on for a long time...not sure if I ever wanted to finish it or share it...but it has new meaning after yesterday...we have to not lose focus on what we are trying to achieve, don't let obstacles in your path hold you back...

I like this Travis, the oof foreground really adds to it by drawing your eye out the doorway into the focus area, then seeing the building in the e distance adds to the intrigue. Makes me want to walk out the door and explore.

(Hope all is well with you and yours)

Edit - just realised I’ve been there! Pre photography days

That's what holding me back...the missing front wheel. EVF not so much; I've had cameras with small EVFs, you get used to it.
The joystick maybe. But tracking is so good with these latest Sonys that aint a thing either to me.
What's chewing on me is a big hike coming up in 4-5 weeks. I'd love to carry a FF but no way I'm suffering under the weight of the AO.

I'm so spoiled, I thought I was ok with small evfs, when I look into it on the rx100... I cry. then again I'm sure the a7c's evf is bigger than the rx100. size matters! :P
I really should use the great af sony has to offer... I'm still on single focus point.

Another attempt at a self portrait using my Kodak Vigilant camera. I picked up an autoknips IV mechanical timer which works with this camera.

This is the full, uncropped image.

That Sigma is such a good lens! Are these wild butterflies or from a butterfly Conservatory? I've never seen these before accept maybe #2.

sorry for posting iphone photo. i got lazy to bring a proper camera to shoot this baby. With my Voigtlander 35mm F1.2 III

I love the A7C so far. yes it does not have a joystick but the touch focus is a great alternative. the lack of customizable button didn't bother me as well because i have the 1, 2 and 3 mode dial button set up for what i need in real estate. Also I set the down button on the back wheel as My Menu so aside from the function button, the My Menu is a huge help. The small EVF also isn't a problem for me because i'm using an iPad mini to control it when shooting RE.

The shutter sound is weird though but i kinda like it.

That's a really good looking combo Vinz. You better be careful with the LM mount lenses, it's a dangerous rabbit hole.

OK this one is a big crop, but used to we drive to Reelfoot 8-10 hours, or drive or fly to Florida for Osprey.
Not my greatest Osprey but shot from the front yard, me sitting on the dock sipping half coffee/half hot chocolate.
I'd seen him fly up-lake and return with a fish heading down-lake several mornings in a row.
When he came back my way he had no fish but circled our bay twice looking. This was two weeks ago I think,
sadly haven't seen him since.

I think Lenstip rates the lens as the sharpest they have tested for the Sony FE mount. It’s crazy good.
Yes, they’re all indoor butterflies. Between that and the amazingly sticky Sony AF tracking system I’m a total cheater. :p

Last time I tried to shoot butterflies in a butterfly house my lens and sensor steamed up with the heat, by the time it cleared up it was time to leave (was a timed slot to visit). Not sure what I should have done to prevent that happening but the photography was a bust :-P

Love the detail and colours in your shots of them David

Awesome. How you finding the A7S3 for stills? Is it leaving you wanting for more or is it ok?

Thanks Eddie. :) I’ve often had the same steamed-up lens problem as well and somehow didn’t have that issue yesterday. When it does happen I just have to wait a while for the lens’ internal temperature to equalizes to the butterfly house temperature.

I’m absolutely loving my a7S III. Most of these shots will never go past the Internet and I’m increasingly using an all-iPad Pro editing/posting workflow, so the little files are making it very fun and easy. The 12MP a7S III files frees my mind of worries about filling up storage space, so there is a great psychological benefit to me as well.

It is highly likely that I will also be buying a high-res body - possibly later this year. Even then I expect to use the a7S III a lot for stills.

It's never been so easy to shoot macro with these new lenses and bodies, it is almost cheating :-)
