A7C has close to same pixel density as the a9....so cropability is limited as well.
AF is as good as the A7Riv if not a bit better.
Battery life is wonderful. The A1 could learn a lesson here.
Ergonomics, hmmmm, well lets say they are doable. Really really could have used a front dial.

On this shot I tested the IBIS at 1/15 second.

Haven't told you yet but I'm really enjoying going back in time....or at least the very very real feel of it via this image series.

Thanks very much Robert. I've been enjoying photographing these old farm buildings and fences with this camera. There does seem to be something special about shooting film that gives the images a timeless look to them.

Played with A7C today....in the rain, completely overcast....crap day, but what would one expect for a new camera?
Picked it up in the big city and headed back to the mountains but stopped at the river....always something going on there and semi-close
compared to here on the lake where lots goes on but often on the other side.

I didn't buy the A7C for wildlife per se, but one needs to know the limitations of the kit right. So a couple of bierds...easy ones not going
the speed of light like the Swallows.
And a shot for Travis since he likes coming to the Roan especially during the bloom. This one from the side yard. I have four species of Rhododendron
here not counting the Flame Azalea (which is also in the Rhodo family). Travis if I'm at 4000 feet you can see it won't be long before the explosion
up higher.

These are all on my alternate flickr page where EXIF can be seen.
All bierd shots with the E 70-350G. A lens that is a huge favorite of Poof's and mine.
The bloom via the FE 24/2.8

It looks like the a7c will serve you well. The shot of the heron with the blurred water background looks fantastic!

Of course, with your skill, I'll bet you could get a great bierd shot using my Kodak folding camera. ;-)a

Did you apply sharpening to this? It looks oversharpened to me and I'm wondering if that was from the Super Resolution.

Yah it's my fault. i sharpened it.

I would like to ask opinions from those that post on this thread.

In your opinions, will Sony

1) introduce at some point an APS-C camera body in the a7/a9 form?
2) more than 24 mp with excellent wildlife/action AF? (24 mp is ok really)

Many of you have shot and dealt with Sony products longer than me so I value what you have to offer. At this point in my life, I have used 4 different camera brands but have been pleased most with Sony and don't have any desire to change again. Sony works for me but I really would like to have a great crop body. I had an a6400 for a while and it was not bad but the form is just too small for me. I've been eyeballing the a6600 now at $1,198 but just don't get warm fuzzies when reading reviews for the type of photography I do.

I appreciate your indulgence.

Unfortunately, this one has already been squashed. I watched it earlier. It will be a smaller form camera and the announcement has now been delayed for some reason.

This view of the Hemet Stock Farm grandstand also shows the ranch house on the left. That's Mt. San Jacinto in the background. Palm Springs is on the other side of that mountain.

I’m getting more doubtful that Sony will make aps-c wildlife camera. I really think a1, in spite of its very high price, is the answer.

My favorite APS-C Sony camera of all time was the A7Riv in crop mode. All the ergos I love, fantastic AF, great buffer. Only thing missing --like all new A7 series-- a complete flippy
screen like on my a99ii.
The Alpha 1 with its mpx number can do APS-C just fine too.

I've always hated the rangefinder style Sony's for BIF/wildlife. So I can understand Bill's desire (mine too). The X-T4 was my answer and with the same pixel density as the A7Riv
it works a charm, and surprisingly has decent (not a9 level of coure) AF tracking. BUT no 200600...the greatest wildlife/bierding/BIF lens ever made (in good light).
Yeah, if Sony was gonna they would have. Not like they haven't had time to :(

Remember I share the wins and losses.
Today was a bust. High was 58F (Lee that is 14.4c).
Constant rain.
But we went out anyway....to the swampy area uplake where the cattails grow hoping for a RWBB.
Found one, but not on a cattail.
That's the looser shot. Just a downpour, all of us soaked to the bone and cold for hours after (yes I had a rain jacket).
So back inside for a boredom shot using the FE20/1.8 and a crop from same.

Lee, how 'bout a metal box sized to suit with flanges. Simply bolt to the floor of the boot?
In my 4Runner I have a slide out drawer system that is all metal under the carpet on all sides and is lockable. Many system like this are made depending on what you want to do.
