Sony Lounge Thread MKIII (All Sony cameras welcome)

Hi All,
Took my son (28 years old) to Sammy's camera as he is thinking of upgrading from his Sony A6400 to the A7R IV camera. He didn't buy anything, in fact he kinda backed away from the sales counter while the salesman was talking. Problem, if you call it a problem, is though my son didn't buy anything I ended up buying the Sony A7R IV version 2 with a Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 lens and a Godox V860IIS flash. I not sure how this happened, as I have three Canon systems but somehow just couldn't help myself. Second problem is now the wife wants to get the same camera for herself with different lens and flash. Wow, hobbies are not cheap but going to have to keep the wife happy.

Anyway I will be spending time now here in the Sony section of the great forum. BTW, anyone need a Canon camera?

Congrats and welcome to the club . And yeah, it can fair add up. The way I justify it to myself is it’s less money than a motorbike (my other hobby) so it’s all good

Never had a track day or a race car but would like to give it a go. My daily is an AMG C63 though so that’s the closest I get

My RX-8 was my daily driver...but it was getting really close to being a full on race car...my Mini was getting there, and the plan was to cage it...but I gave it all up. It was so much fun, the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Where's the photos of it? I did wonder previously if you ended up with it actually......as I remember you saying about it, then all the personal stuff happened and I don't think you ever mentioned it again.

I think I know why I have so much camera gear...I can't let go of it, and when I do...I regret it. I regret selling the Batis 18 and 25...a lot. I got the A7III all cleaned up today and just can't bring myself to unload it. I was going to sell off the Polar Pro filters I have too, but found a tiny little blemish on one of them, no chance it would affect the images and so that makes it unsellable...so might as well keep both of them. I was going to part with the 35ZA and maybe try to pick up a 35GM...but just don't want to get rid of it, I like that lens a lot. And it won't fetch much on the used market anymore...so what is the point? How do you talk yourself into selling something off if you feel like you might want it back...

And a photo to save this from just being a first world problem whiney post...

I gave up track days. I used to go for a Ducati Club track day at least twice a year, when it was still Sears Point and then Sonoma Raceway. It didn't cost that much to use the track all day, but I usually ended up going completely through at least one set of new tires every time I went.

One day I destroyed a pair of boots on the downhill carousel turn when I leaned over too far. Oh well, all good fun!

I killed a brand new set of tires on my car in one day once...I later started buying scrubs to cut down on costs.

Haven't went on a photo outing for a REALLY long time. Long story....

A few with the 200-600 and a7r III. I have an a9 coming, but got delayed in the mail because of the california fires. I should have it by tomorrow and am really looking forward to putting it through its paces.

These are gorgeous captures.

Well that didn't take long at all, the wife just ordered a Sony A7rIV, Godox 350s, Sigma 24-70 f2.8, Sigma 14-24 f2.8 and a couple of SD cards. Now to get out of the house and shot something.

Thanks. I am feeling pretty good about the a9 purchase and it should hold me over until I can get an a1 down the road, which would be the perfect camera but I can't justify it right now.
