I'm hoping there might be a A9 III and its a bit cheaper than the A1.
I used what I had, but the Auto focus would not work very well, so it only got used in manual. The shop would not take it in exchange as it was well used and they said it had mould inside. So it needed retiring.

I was holding out a bit for an a9III that might be 36MP or so, but my a7r2 is getting pretty tired and worn down, and I don't want to sacrifice the higher resolution, the fact that the a9 can be my primary track camera with the a1 doing backup or when I need a bit more reach...as well as doing 4k 120P video...that was what did it for me, my guess is the a9III still won't do the 4k 120 video.

In other news...I finally decided to try and replace the screen protector on the A7r2. It had that film left on it that separated from the screen protector that had been put over the factory film. I was worried I was going to mess it up, since you have to take a razor blade to the edge to get it to pry up...it really wasn't that hard, and the new screen protector looks great and I don't have that awful film stuck on it. While I was at it...I did the a9 too, and low and behold, the scratches that got on there on Day 1 of ownership are now gone! I was afraid that one was going to need a whole new rear screen...nope.

Probably not much of a surprise...but I would like to introduce the newest member of the family...arriving a few weeks earlier than I thought...but that is ok with me. I have nothing to go out and shoot...might have to make something up.

The screen protectors I have are not film, they are about 32 thou (0.8mm) this is a sony one, the other ones I have are about about 0.3mm. These are a bit easier to get off.

Vinz, I think you're the only other A7C user here (?). I did the FW update
this morning. First time using my Samsung laptop (no USB port), USB-C to a USB hub
then USB-C cable to the A7C.
Piece of cake and very quick.
Now I can keep my LCD folded in as I prefer.

Have to wonder if Sony snuck in any other goodies with the update?

I’m so out of touch with canon these days so can someone tell me what’s the better camera - the R5 or R6?

I’ve no intention to switch as I love my Sony’s but canon are doing a free test drive thing where you get the camera delivered on a Friday and collected on a Monday. All you pay is a deposit that gets refunded (I done a similar thing recently with Fuji).

Just out of curiosity might try a canon R5/R6 and the RF85 1.2

I think the R5 is the current Canon mirrorless top dog. I almost bought one, then
came to my senses and waited for the A1.

Yeah the R5 is the better of the 2, the R3 is coming...

I am impressed already just futzing around the house with it. Animal EYE AF works much better than my a9.

What make/brand protector have you put on, Travis?

I got the SmallRig glass ones.

Yeah the factory protector is this hard sheet of film...it is brittle. But mine were both trashed and I found a video online for replacing them.

It really wasn't that hard. You can do it.
