Love the color in the reflection.

Dang, sorry to hear about the bids. Stay firm on your pricing.

I was packed up and about to head to the truck and this was the view when I turned around to start walking...had to get it all back out!

yeah, I am not going to lower my fees...this one this week thought I would travel 13 hours round trip, or buy my own plane ticket on short notice, stay in a hotel on my own dime to shoot their project. They had not even considered travel costs...and they never consider that my fee including travel is probably less than a week in rental for them...clearly, I am not going to target that market. It is full of very near sighted cheap people.

'Merlin' says this is a Merlin.
Too distant for even the 50mpx when cropped into.
But I shot 10-15 shots before too much movement.
Selected 6 of those and put into Zerene.
End result way better than any individual image.

I've only seen 3 Merlins in my life, and loving raptors this was a special treat. Taken in the Outer Banks 2 weeks ago during the
raptor migration.

I keep forgetting that I should not comment on anything Mac related...my apologies...but I learned something new. So there is that!

I'm trying to figure it all out myself. I read this article (external link) earlier this morning and maybe it will help someone.

I don't ever plan on buying into that ecosystem. My post was more related to one of the photographers in a commercial architecture group I am in showed that with the 32GB RAM option, he was maxing it out and getting errors while working with multiple memory hog apps running at the same time.

Here is how I scored in the NLPA contest. I made it to Stage 4 which was just before the final live judging. Overall, I am pleased with the judging results on my image.

0 – A good image or project that does not meet the high standard of the other images and projects left at this stage.
1 – A very good image or project but not good enough for the finals
2 – An excellent image or project but not good enough for the finals.
Approx. 65% of images received scores from 0 to 2
3 – A fantastic image or project that you would be happy to see in the final round
Approx 25% of images received a rating of 3
4 – An exceptional image or project that could win and should definitely be in the book.
Approx 10% of images received at rating of 4
5 – A judges’ absolute favorites from each category – limited per judge as such:

Interesting read! I’m assuming lightroom and photoshop arent GPU intensive and therefore the M1 Pro should be fine? I video edit also but even then I am not exactly pushing the limits for what I do.

Thank you buddy. I didn’t realize the pros were going to enter the contest.

Yes don’t feel bad. The judging is all subjective. You are an excellent photographer my friend!!!

I was surprised to see names like Ben Horne and Michael Frye. I can do ok, but I can't compete with the likes of them. I don't worry about it, I still enjoy what I do, and am ready to hit the road again this weekend, back to the Smokies...

Both of the RRS L brackets are on back order so I ordered the Kirk L bracket for my a1 since I needed something solid for this weekend. I may switch it out when the ultralight RRS bracket is available.

I’m new here, so I’ve not seen any hate for the FE 85mm 1.8. I’ll try to be more attentive. :)

No hate here. It's clear the lens works for *you* and those of us here who have liked the image.

I don't why but this nearly submerged log piece reminds of a mountain peak rising above a frozen ocean.
