I took this quick shot of my temporary desk setup. I've given no effort to do cable management; hopefully I can get things tidier in the finished office space when renovations are complete. Not much to see here - it's just a monitor - but I did want to show off the cool BenQ "Screen Bar" light fixture because it's just awesome. Also the puck (sitting on the monitor stand) lets me easily switch back and forth between displaying my MacBook Pro and my PC (which is sitting on the floor next to the desk).

It's going to take me a LOT of effort to get my stuff transitioned off my PC to the MacBook. Just transferring my Lightroom catalog will take hours.

BTW: the ugly moire in the photo is purely a downsampled thing. This display is beautifully smooth in person.

nice clean setup. i have the mouse and really like it. would like if the click has a lower sound but its no deal killer.

Thank you! Can I ask that you hit the quote button instead of reply so it's easier to see which post you are commenting on?

This nightscape shows off the peaks better than my first image. It also shows the alpine lake in the foreground.

Yay! My Macbook Pro and BenQ monitor arrived the afternoon while I was at the Doctor. Unboxing right now. :-)

Boo! My Gastroenterologist has confirmed that my 2015 hernia surgery has failed and he needs to operate…possibly as early as next Monday. That sucks because I’m amidst trying to get our house prepped for new flooring and it looks like that’s going to be on pause for another 6-8 weeks. Our flooring has already been sitting at the contractor’s warehouse for several weeks.

Congrats on one end David and hoping for the best on the other!!

Thanks Eddie. Your recommendation couldn't have been better. I've just set up my MacBook Pro with the BenQ Monitor and WOW does this display look absolutely phenomenal. Colors appear accurate and the screen is incredibly evenly illuminated from center to edge. Lightyears improved over my old 2010 Dell Ultrasharp 32" 2K monitor. I'm quite certain the photo-editing BenQ model is measurably superior, but this "designer" monitor is so great that I have no regrets.

I also bought the BenQ monitor light for lighting up my worktop and that thing is fantastic as well.

For keyboard and mouse I went with the Logitech MX keys and mouse. Exceptional build quality on the keyboard and a good match to the Mac's space gray color.

The whole setup is clean and invites wanting to sit there and produce some art! Congrats once again on the excellent choices.

Hey Lee, further north than you are but seen a load of Aurora photos on social media today taken in Cumbria! Was hoping for a clear sky tonight but not looking good at the minute

Edit - just remembered you are Bristol way so Cumbria is further north than I had in my head !

Yes. Saw loads on social media this morning and during the day. Must be a beautiful thing to witness :)

Cumbria must be a good 250-300 miles north of here.

They did forecast a few clear nights here. I popped out local on Tuesday. Two new night locations the second was a bust for light pollution. The first was pitch black so I had to light it which wasn't to much of an issue as such. I shot it landscape to fit the building in and I should have done more shots on top to include more sky. There was a load of ground level mist from the pond next to it too so I'll take a look at the images and maybe go back for some stitched image of some sort....

I don't mind those type of failures. Still lessons learned.

I bet the higher iso of a newer body will make stacked, stitched panoramic images quicker though and easier with less star movement!!

I know there are so many 50mm lenses out, but Samyang announced an update to their 50mm 1.4 version II for 799USD. I wonder if they will make a version II for their 35mm 1.4 and introduce the 135 F2 in the coming year. They also announced a 24-70 @899USD zoom for those who enjoy zooms.

Wonder how it stacks up with the others. I will say the 50 f/1.2 GM is the best 50mm I have ever owned.
