Thanks Jose! These bird on a stick type shots often appear quite busy so I try to reduce the clutter by lifting shadows and color grading. A little negative clarity helps too.

Yes I think bird photography is quite challenging but rewarding. I used to shoot water fowl years ago when I lived in Houston. We had some great bird sanctuaries there.

Oh just 30 minutes because I had to get home.

Thanks! Since I don’t have the lenses for reach I like to frame the bird in it’s environment. I guess this makes it an environmental bird portrait.

You're already besting me on the bierds and I've been practicing a long time!
You do have the 100-400 right?
Get the 2.0TC.
I posted this shot a few years ago via the a9+2.0+100400.
It is capable at 800mm.....and a whole lot lighter and wieldable compared to the 200600.

I sure wish I had my A1 and 200-600 when I came across this eagle, but I was coming back from a doctor appointment and the RX10 in the car had to suffice. (I never used to happen upon bald eagles on the way back from the VA in California  )

Thanks! At some point, I want to fix up the garage, it is the last part of the house that needs serious attention...it will become my shrine to all things Porsche...

This one might have to go in there too. My best super slow pan at 1/10.

Bad photography day today....

Went out for sunrise photo's and ended up underestimating the tidal changes. I got stuck out on the extremely slippery rocks and on the way back to shore ended up falling, getting scratched up and dunking my camera and lens in the process. I think I may have bricked my camera, but am giving it some time to dry and see what happens.

I'm really frustrated at myself because I was waiting for good light to happen and should have trusted my instincts to leave earlier and regroup. Ironically the clouds came in about 20 minutes later and would have made for some great shots if I wouldn't have been stubborn. Here are some shots I managed to capture. I didn't care for the sky much. I also forgot to change my ISO from a previous shoot and had to cleanup with Topaz.

Real nice Daniel, sorry to hear your misfortune, put your camera in a sack of dry rice, that may help pull the moisture out. Hoping for a good outcome.
On another note, Sony has some really good pricing on some of it's camera's, if it comes down to that.

EDU Pricing
R4a - $2648
R3a - $1718
A73 - $1778

first, sorry to hear about the camera. I know what it is like to be out there hoping, or focused and getting caught...I did it several years ago out on a rock jetty and nearly had to swim. THe tide was coming in, and not going out.

But the images you got are really nice, good wave action in them, and a cool looking spot. Hopefully the camera will dry out...but salt water is not good for them.
