Happy Thanks giving to all y'all here. Our day is over, and now I can sit back and edit some photos and get ready to go brave the cold in the morning to shoot sunrise.

One from the Smokies this fall. I shot this one two ways, one with the 24-70GM at a smaller aperture for more in focus, and this one with the 85GM wide open for shallow and I can't get over how much more I like this one, it has more depth and dimensionality to it.

THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff.

That combined with an image I shot the next morning at a wide open aperture compared to the exact same image, seconds earlier at a normal smaller aperture, there was a huge difference in the feel of the image. I have not been able to get it out of my head, and am going to start doing some more field study going forward...and it is kinda linked back to Lee in a way, because of all of the shallow DoF landscapes he does. It has me thinking in a very different way about certain light now.

How much of an image needs to be in focus...maybe this pushes the limit for some. For me, it has the feel and tension of motorsports.

Thanks Travis! :p That is a great image IMO, just the sort of thing I would be looking for. Trunks holding the left side but the main subject the dark tree to the right side and its branch winding across the image with the added colour.

I never shoot landscapes at f/11. Infact, even f/7.1 is tiny to me! We follow a lot of YouTube photography, hiking, camping, etc and it always bugs me with the "always shoot at f/11 to get everything in focus" "Hyperfocal and f/11" No. No! If my subject is a lone tree, I focus on the lone tree. Same for anything really. If I can focus on stars hundreds of lightyears away and still get Stonehenge in focus at f/2 there's no need for f/11 :-P :p

All imo of course

I figured it might be something you would shoot. And it is something I have shot in the past, but am going to be more aware of in the future.

Fun blending architectural work with long exposures...a little downtime has me editing some work that will go on the company website.

It might be an App ;)

I do have some light leaks on my star trails though on the other film from my usual Yashica which is a bit annoying but still something I can look into fixing - I did pretty much nail the exposure on those though which I'm happy about at least!!

Few more to bore you with......

It weird too, because I've just ran an identical roll though my Yashica FX3 and they have come out pretty well with some nice colours & tones.

You might notice on the last image...... It's several exposures on the same frame. As well as the light leak issue, when it gets to the end of a roll instead of locking solid & resisting to know the roll has ended, something must be slipping as the lever winds on as normal - Hence I've wound it, shot, wound, shot, ect over the same frame.
