Thanks!

I decided that this year I would do a video version of my usual Top 10 Images from the year. Since almost all of them had video and or timelapse to go with them. I didn't get out as much as I wanted to, but made the most of each opportunity I guess.

Superb Travis, really enjoyed watching that there. Great foresight to record video at all the locations too, made for a nice way of showing your top 10. Not that you asked for this but my personal fav of those is number 5, something about the way the light is coming down through the scene. Second is number 2 and 3rd is number 1 :-)

Edit - all 10 are great though!

Nice video. Great images Travis. I still can't help but wonder what number 1 would look like in colour though!!

Oh, and I finally decided to pick up a PD Capture Clip too. I know it's a bit of a faff with the extra plate on the L Bracket but it should make things easier in certain places & on certain hikes I think.

Also managed to get it [cheapest] from a brick & mortar shop in the next city - Still went for delivery though. I weighed up the almost an hour each way, the traffic, parking aggro, parking cost & current grey wet weather & decided I'd rather pay delivery :)

Well, I was doing video for almost all of them anyway, with the exception of the Petit LeMans Shot. So I had the footage. That light in #5 was special, and what I am trying to pay more attention to, and working on shooting better. Thanks for checking it out.

Thanks Lee, glad you enjoyed it. #1 in color...boring...the skies were about as uninteresting as it gets, no light, no atmosphere...nothing...it feels a bit like a cheat image.

This is the SOOC just cropped.

You did very well with all of them, but that hill shot really grabbed the attention.
Fascinating the way the tree leans into it (windy spot?) and how the livestock had trimmed the vegetation to follow the contour of the hill.

The waterfalls don't need any introduction :-). Really beautiful locations and photos

Not in California! It was dry season. And hot.

It is a very windy place, prevailing winds come off the coast.

Follow up to my earlier lighting query. For a little background, I had a studio set up over 10 years ago and had a bit of fun with it only, nothing professional. Used several Alien Bees with all the gadgets for diffusing/reflecting/controlling/measuring light. Having said that I'm considering a couple of these for close-quarter shooting. I'd appreciate opinions of this light. I'm wanting to use instead of off-camera speedlights with triggers for family stuff.

it probably doesnt matter too much as long as it's convenient, that is one of the highest criterias for me. I hold it in one hand to the left to mimmic OCF at a 45 degree angle, but if I'm too lazy, then it stays on camera.

I have a variety of lights, and bigger will produce better results, but then it gets to a point it's not portable anymore.

cubes are fairly small
gopro is tiny
amaran AL-M9 is a light I have similar to the godox you linked and should be fairly comparable.

one thing I do NOT have is a bicolor light as I think it wastes too much output on separate LED's. I simply use the snap on gel's instead.

btw, the godox looks like a clone of the ulanzi, which goes for a bit less: https://www.amazon.com …le-Dimmable/dp/B089ZS8CC6 (external link)

and godox doesnt look like the make a whole lot of these small lights, might be using their name to justify a higher price. All of the lights I've used can get VERY bright, and work great for fill unless heavily backlit by the sun.... then you gotta get really close.

Haven't used the new A7r4 much but here are a couple of pictures taken at high ISO indoors at Medieval Times. I'm quite pleased with how the camera handles the high ISO settings.
We went there for my wife's birthday, even had her Knighted.

I have a little cheap light like that. Some random Amazon make with adjustable brightness and wb. Actually smaller than my phone and I've used it to light buildings at night when doing astro! Not sure exactly what the 'spread' of light is like for portraits though unless it is bounced.
