Thanks for the reply. I just checked the menu and in electronic shutter it doesn't seem to matter whether I use silent or not. It's silent all the time.
I guess a call to Sony is on my schedule for today

My frustration with the micro USB port has led me to buy the Bluetooth Sony remote. For what it is, I think it is overpriced, It should have an intervalometer built in, for timed exposures, but I will live with it. After some minor frustration setting it up, it works well. Sony shoots themselves in the foot when their menus change so much, they write instructions for something that later doesn't match the camera menu system...so for anyone with an A1 that buys one, you have to turn the remote control function on, and it is NOT in the Bluetooth menu, it is in the Network>Transfer/Remote menu.

I added the remote "on" to My Menu.

New MacBook Pro users - have you managed to get the NIK collection installed? When I try and run the installer on Mac OS Monterey 12.0.1 it says "This version of NIK collection requires Mac OS 10.0.7 or newer"

Any ideas?

Edit - Seems that its something to do with the plugin being intel based and not compatible with the M1 silicon (I have the free version of NIK). Would be keen to hear if anyone has this working or if the new paid version works?

I had to upgrade to the newest version and pay. Contacted customer support and it was clear they didn't care to fix the issue.

Think I’m just going to do without, I grudge paying full price for the one function I use (pro contrast)

Totally reasonable. Makes sense. Pro Contrast (alone) is just not that great a feature to be spending money on imo. I regularly use quite a lot of the NIK tools: several adjustments within Color Efex (Pro and Tonal Contrast, Detail Extractor, Skylight, and quite a few others) along with two other NIK tools: Silver Efex and Viveza. So, I regard NIK tools as useful enough to warrant owning the DXO license.

I imagine there are some YT tuts that cover how to replicate the effect of Pro Contrast within basic PS or LR.

same here, I use a lot of the NIK tools, on every image so it is just part of my workflow.

4 blended images...... A7 & 20G

Not the image I wanted actually. I wanted Orion to the side of the Cathedral face on but got here too late because I went to Burnham lighthouse first for an 20:10 spring high tide.....

Man the select subject mask in LR is amazing! Now that I have my laptop setup properly I'm going back through the last 2 years of images and doing the editing that I am behind on so its the first time using this function. Can't believe how fast it is and how well it does it

That's so beautifully photographed.
Fantastic action shot with so much detail.

Curious if it stayed upright or skidded on its rear end and fell over

Kind of messed this shot up when I took it last March. Shot it at a higher ISO than I would have wanted because I didn't have my tripod with me and also underexposed it by mistake so its not the crispest shot. Having said that I like the way the last light is hitting the snow on the mountain on what was otherwise a pretty dreary day
