I have been working on a basket for the bike to carry the big lens and camera in. Going to look for bald eagles next week with the RV for 5 days. Here is what I have come up with so far. My wife picked up fleece material to glue down so still have that to do.

I would add foam also around all the sides, and also come up with some kind of lid to bunge down. This way if there ever is an incident you can feel safe nothing bad is going to happen to your gear.

Safe & enjoyable travels !!

Anyway you can lash the camera and lens to the basket so that it can’t bounce out if you hit a bad bump. Same if you fall off your bike to prevent it spilling the camera out too?

Thanks guys. I considered adding foam to the sides but it would take a lot of room away. I will use bungees and also I have some velcro straps to add. I have this stuff well insured on my homeowners' insurance as well. If I take a bad enough spill to lose the camera, I'll likely have worse problems than the camera. We don't do any rough stuff, more casual riding.

I'm guessing the box on the back of the bike is worth more than 2X the bike?

This is not being posted as a recommendation...just thought I'd share my own bike/200-600mm solution. :) It makes me look like a total dork, but I use my doggie stroller and keep the camera/lens secured inside the Think Tank luggage. NOT convenient for quickly stopping and snapping a wildlife photo, but the stroller isn't likely to flip over if I have a spill and even if it does, the gear is secured in the bag. Also plenty of room in there for a tripod and monopod.

To be honest, I haven't used this for hauling my 200-600 around that much so far, but we have gotten a whole lot of enjoyment taking our yorkies around in it and can't wait for the warmer temperatures to get rolling once again. :)

2X doesn't cover it.

I don't use a bike to transport my 200-600 however I do see quite of bit of wildlife photogs using bikes to get to the shooting areas in the local Nature preserve that I go to often. I did purchase a Mindshift 26L backpack recently which can accommodate the a1 and 200-600 ( attached ), works really well for me to walk to the site. I could rent a bike and use my backpack to get to the areas that I shoot at though or perhaps purchase one of those folding type bikes, that would work as well.

Because POTN database does not have a1 yet and I had to indicate the camera for the photo to get into my library

I found something similar that I have bookmarked for whenever I have a rig where I can take the bike with me...it would make for a great camera caddy.

Hi Bill, how do you like the Rolanpro cover for your 200-600? Are the lens switches exposed and easily accessible?

I have an e-scooter to reach different destinations, not sure it’s the right choice, but sure is fun in a dangerous kind of way. Fits in the back seat or trunk

Jose, it is great. Robert was the one that made me give up the Lenscoat and look into the Rolanpro. This thing is rugged. There is a flap that covers the switches and allows easy access. The sleeve over the MM markings is also recessed so the numbers can be easily seen. It doesn't fray on the edges at all. I think you would like it.

Yeah I have been looking at them, don't need it during the winter months, the white colour of the lens actually blends nicely all the snow around us  but looking to get one for the spring shooting season. What is the lencoat made of, material?
