Nice one it is too, is that your hawk?

Here's another of one of mine

Wow what a pose! Bet you are super proud of that one.

Nope. I retired and moved. 'my' hawk is still in the city but I'm a long way from there.
The one your referenced was spotted sitting on a sign on an interstate overpass. We took the off-ramp, looked for a place to park
and found another car with two people with cameras/lenses trained on the hawk/sign.
I pulled over, got out, and began shooting.

I'm working on a new 'my' hawk....but so far no presentable images.
What we had at the pre-retirement house was Red-tailed Hawks. Up here in the southern Appalachian tundra region (the high was 21F today, and still 6-8 inches
of snow lingering in the driveway) are Red-shouldered Hawks, which are somewhat smaller, way more capable of quick hit and run, and can fly through thick forests much better than the Red-tailed.
You may remember the metal tree we welded. It too is a work in progress but is almost there.
Here is a non-presentable image but gives an idea of what I've been working on hawk-wise here at the house-

When I get him/her without the chicken leg then it will suddenly become presentable haha!
Oh, and the pieces of metal are scheduled for branches/limbs when it is safe to climb back up....right now there is too much ice on the dock for me to plant the ladder and scale.
Incidentally, in feeding the hawk I'm also feeding 8-9 crows (yesterday's count)...and I'm good with that. I fully love and respect the Corvids, probably in the top two most intelligent bierds on the planet. Crows need protein too. Now especially when everything is cover in the blanket of frozen water ;)

This morning's effort. I staid out sitting for 45 min's for this one. Toes were screaming by then, but all the rest of me was cozy. Should have put the pack boots on, but I'd been moving a ric of logs to a log crib on the carport addressing the fact we wont get above freezing for yet another week. While working my feet were fine, but sitting is another matter for toes staying warm.

Sony has no 200mm :(
So A7iv + MC11+ EOS 200/2.8

Thanks Robert, I do like that one!
I meant your new 'my' hawk as I know you're getting there with that one too. Anyway your new one is a smart looking bird as all buteos are and I can see it won't be long before you are wowing us with images of him/her.
A fair proportion of food I put out goes to corvids too, we have magpies crows and ravens but mostly it's the magpies that steal the food as they are really fast in and out. I have a whole bunch of stuff that would be good were it not for the food in claw or beak too!

Gentlemen, thanks to you for the comments. They are "nervous" little guys hardly staying in one place long. One trick to getting to see the ruby is playing their song for them.

These were with my a7RII from last year.

I'm fairly positive my wife had Covid. She is feeling better now but it was a rough 2 weeks. I was sick for a week too. Our son was fine. I hope everyone is staying safe and is healthy.
