I don't think I have ever seen one of these guys out of the water before. Hardy ducks for sure as it was about 10 degrees out.

Forgot to say something Lee. On that solitary tree, imagine a timelapse over a year, one shot a week or maybe two shots a week.

Outstanding Merganser Ed.
Saw one on our lake, first time in 27 years here. Hope they call it home from now on.

A brutal time of year here. Over a week below freezing but next Tuesday we should hit 40F.......IF they are correct in the forecasting.
Still have 2 inches solid ice in the driveway where the tires have compacted the snow. I think an ATV is in my future but not for plowing
snow, I don't think they are designed for that, but for hauling chat and placing it on the ice between our house and the gate. After the gate
the county does a good job of maintaining even way up here. But between the gate and the house (almost a mile) there are three climbs and at
the bottom of each climb a sweet curve.
The south facing sides of the climbs clears quickly, but the north sides and the bottom curves can maintain solid ice until mid-March. Hey it would be another job
along with splitting wood :)

Yeah, I'm going to sort of try that but more for different seasons I think. I already have it in the snow.

We've had a few chilly nights out shooting lately. Man that Move Shoot Move and it's laser pointer doesn't like the zero degree temperatures!

First image from Tremont. I spent a lot of time working water abstracts...but managed to find a couple wider views, but still keep them small scenes.

Got this shot the other day while driving around looking for anything to shoot. We are forecast to get up to 18 inches more tomorrow and have a blizzard warning, so hopefully get some good snowy landscape opportunities on Sunday.

Blizzard started today a bit after noon. Predicting 5F in the morning.
I spent a bit of time taking off the BFGoodrich KO2's and putting on Cooper Snow Claws with studs. No time to even think of a camera today :(

Luckily here in the flat lands, my Falken Wildpeaks and Michelin Cross Climate 2s have proven more than able. I also just wait until my plow guy shows up :-)

Coldest morning so far was yesterday at -8, but the beauty of being retired is just firing up the coffee pot and enjoying the mornings with a cup of Joe and good company. We have plenty of wood, food, propane and a back up generator.

Carl likes winter!

-8 wow. Lovely looking cat :-)

Edit - I assumed you meant Celsius? But if -8 Fahrenheit that’s even colder than I thought you meant (like -22 c )

Orion on Film!!

Yes, I do appreciate this isn't technically perfect, not super sharp, certainly not a clinically clean digital image that we are used to these days.

But..... The Orion constellation, caught on ASA200 expired film, for a 4 minute exposure using the Move Shoot Move tracker.

I'm happy with that!
