These guys are pretty rare in our area but I came across a flock of what was likely more than 50 birds at our local pond. Amazing the sound they made surface filtering the water.

OK, after waiting a while to receive it ( shipped from China ) I finally have the RolandPro cover for the Sony 200-600. Thanks Robert for recommending it, it's a fantastic covering and I really happy with the purchase. The covering looks like it's very well manufactured and fits the lens perfectly. The one thing I wish they would have changed is the covering for the lens hood, it was almost impossible to slide on because it's extremely tight. I would have preferred if they added the elastic fabric separator like they did in some other sections so it would be easier to apply. Overall though really happy with it.

Jose, who did you order that from ? I think I’m going to replace the Lenscoat on my 200-600mm. It’s got more holes in it than the Buffalo Bills defence ! It started to fray the first week I had it ! :-(

Glad you like it. I did read at FM that one owner wasn't so impressed with his RolanPro for the 200600; something that one of the cover rings slipped on him in use. I've not experienced that.
Also I never used the hood cover on the 200600. In fact I've never used the OEM hood. I use a collapsible rubber hood that takes a filter (sacrificial UV). So the whole rig fits in my Pelican box.\

I think (maybe wrongly) that hoods are for funky sunlight? And to a degree protecting the front element.
The UV filter is my answer to the funky light/besides for wildlife as you know, I try to keep the Sun behind me anyway.
Hoods are just big and fiddly. I already have 3 custom hoods for the 600/4 so that OEM behemoth is still in the box it came in.
YMMV :)

This morning's effort at between 10 and 12F (carport thermo read 10, porch read 12). I thought I'd be close to Ed in Maine's temps but
he's got me beat by a cold mile.
I bet Jose and Shooz are in a completely different world for cold!

This sharp-shinned hawk landed six ft from me. I had the 1.4x on the 100-400 and it was too much. It happened so quick that I didn't have time to go to a slower shutter speed which I would like to have done.

Ordered it from eBay seller is idealfoto1986, took two weeks to arrive from China. I think it's also available from Amazon US.

Yeah I saw that post over at Fred Miranda, not sure what that was about, the cover fits very snuggly on the lens, pretty happy with it.
I actually don't mind the hood, I'm a bit of a klutz especially walking through heavy woods or marshes. The A1 with the lens attached and OEM hood reversed fits nicely in the Mindshift 26L.

Nice Northern Shoveler. We had a lot out in California, but I haven't seen any here in Maine yet.

Amazing! and quite a brilliant shot. 6ft. That would never happen to me. Karma.
