Been on vacation this week, work has been busy, family health issues, my dad has been in pretty bad shape since February...wifes health is not great right now...not terribly motivated for photography right now...a bit burnt out and uninspired right now.

Yeah, even that is cut way down...less than 1/3 the time I used to spend on social media these days...I rarely even watch YT for photography anymore. Kind of in a funk.

Photography is a refuge and a release. The great thing is it will be there when you get through what ever life has you facing. Take those precious moments with those you love. They are worth more than anything else. Coming up on a year since I lost my friend and really brother in life. I would take 5 minutes with him over all the photos we took even though it was intertwined. Prayers for you and we all send you support your a part of our family posting or not.

really happy with the new 24-70gm2. I got it mainly because it's smaller and lighter than the original (not by alot though). it makes it easier to bring around and not having to think twice if I really want to take it with me.

Usually you have been a great help to me with all my photography questions but this time not so much.

We have two Sony A7r4 cameras both with 24-70 f2.8 Sigma lenses on the cameras. Been looking at the new Sony GM 24-70 lens but telling the wife the Sigma works just fine, no need to change/upgrade to a different lens. Then she sees posts like this one and I see a trip back to Samy's camera where she played the with Sony 24-70 lens.

Okay I will admit I liked the Sony lens too as it is smaller and lighter than the Sigma. So all kidding aside, keep us posted on how you like the new Sony lens. :)

lol

honestly, the sigma and the gm1 are fantastic lens. the issue the two have for me is weight and size. the new gm2 semi solves that issue for me in cutting it down some, but the size and weight different is not huge. the af and sharpness has been improved a little, that's not saying the sigma and gm1 was not. another thing I like with the gm2 is the colors, the old one was on the warm side, the new one is more neutral.

I got into mirrorless for the size and weight. the original a7 bodies and original lens was really what solved the issue. I also love wide aperture so I end up getting the bigger lens and that just ruins my requirements for a mirrorless. The updated lens is worth it to me in that category. If they never updated the lens, I would still continue to use the gm1. I know the tamron is smaller and lighter, but I want the sony optics :P

from this morning.

In the pass with our Canon cameras we always use Canon lenses and guess I should have done the same when switching to Sony. The old GM 24-70 lens was a little smaller and lighter than the Sigma, making the new GM 24-70 II a lot lighter and smaller than the Sigma.
Oh BTW, the Sony 35mm f1.4 GM is a great lens. I know, I shouldn't have let the wife go to that camera store in Las Vegas, Nv on our last trip. :) Silly me thought that lens would be small and light enough to keep her happy. You would think after 37 years of marriage I would have learn by now. :)
Anyway, have fun with your new lens, the picture you posted looked great.

I’m really sorry and pained to read about all you’re going through right now, Travis, and sincerely hope and wish you and your family’s well-being. I too am sick with sorrow regarding my mom’s health. I’m losing her - she is mostly gone - to alzheimers. It is awful.
