Just realised there is a 70-200 GM2 now, is the original version any good? What’s better about the new one? Are there any other brands worth looking at in the 70-200 range?

Edit - just went down a Tamron rabbit hole. Thinking that’s the way to go cost wise.

Can’t decide between this (for Iceland) -

1. 16-35GM (own) + Contax zeiss 35-70 (own) + Tamron 70-180

Or

2. 16-35GM (own) + Tamron 35-150

Whilst the 35-150 is heavy it’s actually lighter than the 35-70 and 70-180 combined (although 150 vs 180 on the long end)

Anyone using the 35-150 for landscape?

I think the long end will be the main thing to decide on. Plus I guess you will have less lens changes if that bothers you in that environment.

I certainly can't fault the Tamron 70-180mm - it's a lovely lens imo & manual focus with it is very nice too.

Yeah wasn’t sure if I would miss the 30mm from 150-180 or not, suppose I could crop a bit, but I like to frame in camera when I can. The less lens changing is appealing to me most. Two lens two bodies plus my drone in the one backpack seems like a winner

Yeah. I've just been away to the Exmoor coast for a few days with the 35GM, T70-180mm and Mini 2. Is a nice simple set up for me but then I don't really shoot wide or foregrounds so....

Definitely 16-35GM (own) + Contax zeiss 35-70 >>>to bad you dont have the C/Y100-300.. I seen some beautiful work on FM with it from Iceland

I owned the 100-300 before, I did wonder if I should re-purchase. It’s the cheapest option all round

Yeah it works really well, you can invert it too and feather it, really useful

It's certainly a nice feature as is the sky selection coming from Lightroom 5.7 for 6 or 7 years.

I really really cant say enough about the 70-200II - My vote for best sony lens..... For scale the purple flower is the size of a quarter
