Are there any other brands worth looking at in the 70-200 range? Thanks Edit - just went down a Tamron rabbit hole. Thinking that’s the way to go cost wise. Can’t decide between this (for Iceland) - 1. 16-35GM (own) + Contax zeiss 35-70 (own) + Tamron 70-180 Or 2. 16-35GM (own) + Tamron 35-150 Whilst the 35-150 is heavy it’s actually lighter than the 35-70 and 70-180 combined (although 150 vs 180 on the long end) Anyone using the 35-150 for landscape? Personally I would go with option 1. The 16-35 would be a great choice for a place like Iceland for the wide shots and 70-180 for the cropped landscapes. Never shot with either of the Tamrons but the 70-180 is highly regarded based on what I have read. Not sure I would take the 35-70 though, I would prefer a 50mm prime instead. Sony A1, A7R2

I have the Sony 70-200 GM2, it's a fantastic lens for sure, it's super sharp even wide open, focus is super fast and the lens is surprisingly lightweight for what it is the downside as you already mentioned is cost. here is a wide open shot from a visit to a local Raptor centre this past weekend, I'm always surprised on how sharp this zoom is. ![]() Thanks for the input Jose Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

Keep in mind that with a lens like this, it will be on the camera a lot and you're carrying all the weight in your hand most the time. Thanks Charlie, it is something to consider, although lighter overall than the other combo I mentioned, like you say it’s all in the one place with the weight. For the Iceland trip we are living out of a campervan so actual carry time won’t be excessive. I feel myself edging towards the 35-150 but will sleep on it more. Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

I have come across wild board out in the field, normally they are pretty shy and run as soon as they see you or "sniff" you but I did have an encounter with one that stood his ground and just starred at me, he was a pretty big male, scarred the hell out of me to be frank.
