i just love the 55 1.8. it's nice, has nice renderings, no-little ca. light. do you still have your otus?

for me the hard part is GM versus zeiss. zeiss has nice colors and renderings but GM's are sharper but heavier and i find them on the warm side when it comes to colors.

I don’t own the Otus, or any DSLR lens any more. Just got tired of the extra weight. Even when lenses are similar weight, they automatically get 1/4 pound heavier when factoring in the adapter.

That said it sure was great having the Otus while I did...best lens I’ll ever touch. The FE 55mm 1.8 is a decent replacement and the diminutive size makes it a joy to use.

Another from the mini session the other day. Just finishing editing these. I very rarely do family or children's photos but pretty happy with most of these.

About to take the RX100V to some Christmas markets and see what I can get.

Enjoy, I’m also off to one tomorrow and can’t decide on either the 55 or 85 f1.8

A simple cabernet for dinner tonight.

When I opened the raw file, I thought I'd switch from the Adobe Standard profile to Camera Standard profile and I preferred that profile best, at least in this case. I think it looks more like the embedded jpg by changing the raw camera profile (PS CC 2018).

I recently visited their winery in Napa Valley and tried some Cabernet and red blends from the 80s and 90s, as well as their current lineup. It was a fun experience.

Years ago, when I used to live in Central Calif., a few friends and I would occasionally make the Napa Valley loop and enjoy some wine tasting. Of course, we always had to buy a favorite bottle or two or three. Sometimes we'd stop at a local store for some cheese, crackers and salami for an impromptu picnic as well with wine being the preferred beverage naturally. :-)

This is continuation of a project I am working on for a marketing company where they want both daytime and twilight shots of eight downtown buildings.

Sun stopped shining as soon as I unboxed, but first looks at the lens has me very pleased. I took a chance and bought the FE 35mm 1.4 on the FM buy/sell, and this initially seems like a good copy. I bought this lens because I wanted a 35mm that was fast (1.4) and decently sharp at 1.4 and has a bit of 3d pop to it. A first glance the lens appears to deliver on all that.

QUOTED IMAGE

Very nice David. Looking forward to seeing more.

Trying to finalize my gear decision for my trip to Disney World, just noticed that there’s some new sales on Sony Gear. Was set on the RX1RII rental and still might, but the a6500+18-105 combo is now about $250 off. I know the trade offs are a crop sensor, an f/4 (so f/6 equivalent DoF), and a much larger package. But I’d get a more versatile zoom range which might come in handy in places like the Animal Kingdom safari (though still probably too short), better video with smooth zooming, better battery life, and better AF. Of course I’d also have to get probably the 35mm f/1.8 as well or another 1.8 (the new Sigma 16mm 1.4 might be too wide for my tastes). I’d force myself to get by with just the two lenses. And then after the trip, I’d still have a camera (sold off the a9, gave away my wifes Canon M6) Decision, decisions!

Current Gear: Sony RX1RII
