Exactly. I think shooting a tall building from street level and/or from too close means parallel sides no longer apply. The question then remains, what constitutes a tall enough building before one no longer needs to concern oneself about keeping the lines parallel? In my mind, it's more an aesthetic decision rather than a technical one.

You (and anyone) are certainly free to establish yourself in a career as a professional architectural photographer eschewing customary professional standards because they don’t seem aesthetically pleasing to you. :)

I mean that sincerely. For most of my career in architecture architectural photography almost never had people in it (which is odd because architectural renderings typically include people), but conventions appear to be changing as I’m seeing more and more people in arch photos. My old boss demanded them in photos (which can be really hard to do during a photo shoot). So, conventions/norms can and do change).

A closer view showing the restaurant interior lights and maybe even people enjoying the outdoor patio might look pretty cool.

Gene, I asked the client before starting this project if they wanted people in the shots and they said no. It has been difficult getting my shots without people or cars in the images because after all, it's an active city. I try to stack the odds in my favor by shooting early mornings.

Yep times are changing. On my last assignment, the client wanted lifestyle shots to convey the message that the building was actively being used by people in their daily routines. On this current assignment, the client did not want people in the shots.

the problem with people in the images...depending on the place...is getting their consent to be in the photo. If they are at a restaurant, and you are there to photograph it, they may not want to be in your pictures. I have done some work for our office, and we do libraries, and I had to get a release or leave people out...on the images that the people helped, I went through the process...tedious as it was.

Haha, yes getting people in the imagery is a total pain. In one instant my boss sent out an email asking whole families to participate in the after-hours photoshoot. This guaranteed everyone gave their consent.

Another photo shoot was at a UMKC student lounge, which forced me to race around getting everyone to sign a consent form. This became unrealistic as students kept coming and going. I did the best I could and hope for the best. Also a pain is it's hard to manage all their stuff - can't exactly say, "Would you please get rid of your bag, or change your shirt - it's messing up my shot."

The easiest way to get people is to just take a couple friends/ coworkers with you and have them walk through the scene, relying on motion blur to convey movement and space-usage without showing people detail. I like this method because it keeps the photo’s focus on the architecture while minimizing the hassles of managing people.

I got my new Oriskany coffee mug today! Here's a shot of it with my old mug behind it. The old one I bought in Yokosuka in 1966. I'd use it today but I dropped it years ago and even though I was able to glue it back together...sort of...it's now just for display.

I should have remembered you were taking photos for a client. I'll blame it on old age... mine of course! -?

A really fun family to shoot with. I hope the colors are like these all year round even on summers.

Just got back from a trip to Japan and I'm super happy with how the A7ii and 34mm preformed!
(Forgive me if I start to spam Japan photos over the next couple of weeks lol)

I am uploading these two directly to the site. I'm not sure what the advantages are compared to linking images from Flickr for example.

You wouldn't believe how much cloning I had to do on both images to remove power lines and a large power pole on the left side of both images. Time to go relax...whew!

I was waiting for the lights on the exterior of the building to turn on but they never did. I didn't want to fake it so I left it as is. I think the sunset which was real, makes up for it. ;-)a

I like the reflections of the sky in the windows on these shots. I am surprised at how different the colors are of the building though from one shot to the other. Have you tried using "Adjustments>Match Color" to bring the colors closer together Alfredo?

Here's my quick attempt. After I applied the "match color" adjustment, I refined it a little using a hue/saturation "hue" adjustment.

I inserted the adjusted image into the 'source' image for my example.
