The CV 15 is a really great lens assuming you can find a good copy, I think the latest ones haven't been plaugued with as much corner smearing issues as the earlier one. I had a great copy but I stupidly dropped it one day and now it's de-centrered and likely not worth the hassle to send it to CV for repair. I finally sold my 15mm Zeiss Distagon 2.8 last week so I'm using the Sony 12-24 and the Leica 16-18-21 to cover that focal length. The Sony is fantactic at 15 and pretty good at 12 but it's a pain to use with filters so with filter work I'm sticking to the Leica. Lately I've been thinking about the Laowa 15 F2 but I'm still undecided.

Joe

Hoping I win the CV 15mm lottery. Like you, I’ve heard optimistic reports of better copies of late, so hopefully they figured something out in manufacturing.
Nadim (Puckman) has an m-mount copy that is great, but I decided a while back to live with a 100% e-mount kit.

I love the Laowa ultra-wides. I had the 12mm zero distortion and thought it was great. If astro was of any interest for me in shooting, I might have gone with Laowa. Unfortunately for me, the Laowa 12mm 2.8 as well as 15mm f/2 suffer from a fatal flaw: too large/heavy (for my usage). The CV 12 & 15 and Loxia 21 & 35 are so compact I can fit them all in my tiniest camera bag (TT Urban Approach 5).

Very nice! Good to see that you're getting good results from Sigma glass. Can't wait to see what native FE Sigma glass is like.

I am really happy with the Sigma Art lenses on the Sony, if Sigma does release FE mount, that is the only thing that will make me sell my 50Art.

I'm starting to get a cold. Went from 31 in NJ to 82 in Orlando. Was swimming outside in an 80 degree pool on December 8th, come back to NJ the next day to a snow storm, lol. The extremes in weather have gotten to me.

I know that feeling all too well..I have been in Orlando every month for the last two years...twice in the last week, and three times in the next 9 days...the weather difference kills me, I left there this week and it was shorts weather, in the 80s, got home and it was freezing cold and snowed the next day!

Wow, that is a beautiful snow scene Alfredo...amazing you were able to get it in San Antonio.

Great work, I love it.

Thank you David. It was pretty special to see. I didn't get any shots of iconic downtown locations in the snow (had to go to work) but I'll always have this image to remember.

tried out some pixel shift today.

straight out of camera images were set adobe rgb in camera and converted to srgb in photoshop.

pixel shift images were done using sony's 'imaging edge' software. a set of pixel shift raw images (4 files) produced in camera, merged into one image using the software, and saved to your choice of jpg, tif, or arg (raw file?).

you will have to dl the images and pixel peep to see the difference. details and textures are more sharp and refined.

note: pixel shift is best used on stills with NO moving objects. If you dl the sample picture you can see that the flowing leaves are interelaced. Also it's best to use a good sturdy tripod.... in general :P I had some good sample images but are duds because I decided to use my toy tripod (Dolica TX570DS) for the first time. purchased 3 years ago for when I dont want to take my bigger one. heh

i made a folder on flickr with full size images for your peeping needs :)
the file with PSMS is the pixel shift file.

Really digging Capture One. Color controls, particularly the skin tone adjustments, are much better. Plus the files coming out of it just have so much more punch to them.

Very generally I have to do less individual color channel adjustments, whereas in LR I'd have to hammer certain channels down. Not sure if its capture one or the a7rIII...probably both.

I think Capture One comes closer to having the raw files look more like the embedded jpg's do than Adobe does when they are first opened. You can get a similar result in Adobe ACR if you change the camera profile from Adobe Standard to Camera Standard.
