That CV Ultron would be killer in FE mount.

Established in 1926, San Antonio's Witte Museum is our city's nature, science, and culture museum. It recently went massive renovations to expand the exhibit space and other upgrades. I used DxO PhotoLab for the heaving lifting on this image. That magenta on the stone wall is from the large screen up in the ceiling.

The CV 35 1.4 has outright bad bokeh...

Ahh, what a shame. If true, the lens has no appeal for me. I’d rather go 5mm longer and get a CV 40mm 1.2, which has great bokeh imo.

I confess I never really got what Facebook is supposed to be about.

it's a place where most individuals brag about their life or ask the world to feel sad for them when they break a nail :P

So, looking at my CV 15mm corners I'm not blown away. Not what I’d call terrible, but doubt it is as good as a 12-24mm @ 15mm. Doesn’t look like smearing, just softness. Now I'm trying to decide what to do. Options:

1. Return the 15mm, keep my FE 55mm 1.8 (which I'm pained to have to sell).
2. Return the 15mm, sell my CV 12mm and FE 55mm and buy a 12-24mm.
3. Live with 15mm - it's not terrible; I'm not a complete corner sharpness freak even for landscapes.

Really been struggling with this all week.

12-24 looks so nice. do you still have your sw150 filter kit though? can't remember if you even had one heh. been a long time
and yes the 55 1.8 is hard to get rid of. light, small, good rendering, af.

Agree, the 12-24mm seems impressive. I like the rendering/colors of the CV lenses more, but overall the 12-24mm is probably a better lens. If I got one, I wouldn’t much bother with filters. But, could try the lifehack of snugging a thin-ring 77mm filter within the lens shade. It's supposed to vignette-free around the 15mm+ range; Charlie can say what the exact limits are.

I've all but abandoned square filters; too cumbersome. And unless I'm trying to slow down exposure for waterfalls, I don't do much LE work. The main filter for me is a CPL.

I think I'm set on selling the rx1rii as I haven't really been using it lately. I like the FE 35 1.4, but it is a big lens and not so fun to bring around casually. I still have the FE 35 f2.8, but its too slow.

I really want a goldilocks middle of the road 35mm...not too big, not too slow. Preferably with AF, but I think I could be ok with MF too. I've thought of the Loxia 35, but the CV 35 1.4 looks good too! I'm not too concerned about max resolution wide open since I'd want this for more casual stuff.

Thought you might be readying for the RX1Riii(3).

Beautiful colors and tone. I don't pay attention to buildings but this is just a fantastic image.

Disapointing to heat there is still variation in the cv15, I was hoping you got a great copy

The Astronomik CLS arrived (3 days from Germany too).
And you're mentioning the 12-24 reminds that I wrote (no response yet) Astronomik asking for same form factor ND and CPL.
But while surfing there I discovered this clip in filter-

Nothing to do with filters in general but many have complained that the latest Sony sensors are dust magnets (I just try to remember
to turn off the camera AND run the cleaning cycle before lens changes) and this filter might help with those super dust spot prone.

77mm filter trick can get you as low as 14, however that's a little too close for comfort and I have mine set around 15-16mm with a thicker than normal ring from a trashed thin CPL.

pretty sure this shot was at 15mm + filter trick: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=18500728

the thing I like about the filter trick is the way you mount it, it's like putting on a lens cap, you simply wedge it on, and it sticks due friction. It's super fast in practice, and being conventional filters, takes minimal space. Due to the tendency of using the wide end, I decided only 1 filter was needed for my style, a 6 stop, as I love water textures and you kind of need longer exposures the wider you go.

my other lenses use a magnetic filter, which sticks on similarly to the filter trick. Gotta say, I really like that style, as it's super fast and small. My filters dont take up much space, and very fast in the field. Sunsets dont last very long, so I can appreciate that sorta thing.

Charlie I have surfed-googled looking for an extra 12-24 lens cap to skeletonize for 'normal' filters
but so far can't find one.
