that's great Gene. you got a shot of the subject and the pull out in one image. very well done :P

still looks clean to me. looked really good on the the thumbnail picture on flickr. didnt notice they were lights till you brought it up heh. i think if you blur/blend the middle light it would look superb.

Thanks. I did do one without the softbox overhead and think I like it better. I also cropped it to a 5 x 4 ratio.

I still have everything set up as it was so I might try another stab at the decanter when my new camera arrives...it's on the truck for delivery as I type. :-)

thank you so much!!!!! wonderful examples!!

Now 1 more question hehe.

Multitude of bags out there and i am getting dizzy trying to figure out what will work and wont

Any ideas on which bag can fit the following (staying away from backpacks though)

1 a7r3 with a 16-35 f4
1 more a7r3 with a 28 f2
fe 85 f1.8
zeiss 551.8

thanks again for the help

if no backpack then... messenger bag would be the option.
i'd get a 13" bag for a 2 body+lens carry. do keep in mind that it will be heavy on your shoulders even for a mirrorless. id recommend a thick padding for a more comfort wear. my experience is with a thinktank urban disguise 40v1. i tried using my smaller and lighter bag (blacklabel oscar's one day bag shown here https://photography-on-the.net …hp?p=17958550&i=i78665790) with the 7dr3 and 24-70 2.8 alone but it left my shoulder uncomfortable after a couple hours.

i dont have experience with these bags but if you dont mind spending a lot on a bag these would be the two that's in my mind.

tenba cooper 13 slim
https://www.tenba.com …tenba-cooper-13-slim.aspx (external link)

there are other cheaper options out there of course. i tend to like the expensive stuff...

looking through Gene's camera bag for sony thread can give you some ideas.

Now that Carlo has had some time to shoot with the Sigma 135, I'm really interested to hear his thoughts of it vs the 135ZA.

I suspect the Sigma may be everything (and more) the 135ZA is, but more refined and available across multiple mounts.

It seemed like Roger from LR thought the Sigma held the APO to pretty much a draw, and the APO is slightly better optically than the ZA (read: amazing).

At the end of the day, I don't know if the Sigma 135 is enough to switch me to an a7rii--but it sure gives me something to think about.

Bianchi, Gene will know before I will; I bet his is on a UPS truck today or tomorrow.
I'm still a week or so out. It's ordered but I went the Greentoe route to save a couple
bills and the penalty is having to wait a few tiers.

I'll make a prediction. With 1.4TC it should be fine. With 2.0TC it is gonna suck, that F11
thing :(
Now this might sound crazy but I'm keeping the 2.0+100400gm on the a9 and putting
the 70-300G on the a7Riii.
You might remember this shot with the 70-300G, a whole string of them this one plucked from 20, but enough for me
to see the 70-300G is a great lens for what I do, and it was after seeing this I sold the 1DXii.

Oddly, Sony's Imaging Edge software won't open on my Windows 7 computer. I've tried both versions of it. Hopefully, I can install it on my Surface Pro using Windows 8.1 and then transfer the merged image back to my desktop. I may be upgrading my computer in the near future...

Nice work with the A7Rii!

Haha! Well it was about time I tried the 100400 on the a7rii. Truthfully I wouldn't
try BIF with that combo but for wildlife portraits it is goodness. Soon enough
I'll try the 100400 on the Riii down your way Mickey. Speaking of, have a driveway
for the campervan? Everything campground wise is booked up near Viera :(

2 hours in the blind (22F by the way) for this shot.
I put the camera/lens outside for an hour to acclimate at the same time I put
the peanuts out. Then sat and sat and sat. The only other more skittish is the
Red-bellied; still working on him.

Medicine Man, or anyone else with this set up. The question is how well does the A7RIII work/perform with the Sony 1.4 & 2X TC & the Sony 100-400

I'll be able to give you my impressions of the 2x extender and 100-400 GM mounted on the a7riii soon but I don't have the 1.4x yet. I may not either since I've been so happy with the 2x.

I'd say it was well worth the wait...awesome shot. Of course, it helps that it wasn't me waiting in 22° weather.

I just installed the newest version of Windows Update Installer program and now Imaging Edge works. :-) At the beginning of the Sony install package, it says the newest version of the Windows Updater program needs to be installed or Imaging Edge may not work so I took my cue from that.

I haven't used the Windows Updater for a long time, going by the philosophy that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. ;-)a

You could really print a whole, wonderful coffee table book of Medicine Man's mirrorless wildlife captures to support that theme.
