For the A7R3 owners, have you guys noticed this?

Yesterday I was using my Xplor600 on a family portrait and i were getting a lot of misfires which is shameful in front of clients.

So this morning i thought i needed to update all my godoxes. Updated all including my X1t. Guess what?! I'm still getting misfires. I tried to change channel. same thing.

Then I thought of trying my A6000, 30/30 Zero Nada misfires at all. Tried another 20 exposures on the A6000, zero misfires again. bummer.

*Edit: I did the same test with my Godox AD200 with both camera, same results.

misfires as in not firing at all?

I've had two shoots with the AD600 and AD200. It's worked fine for me.

That's kind of normal especially out doors...at least in my experience. I usually chalk it up to recycling times.

Test both my A6000 and A7R3 indoor, same result. 30/30 for the A6000. recycle red light keeps lit since i only tries at 1/16 power. I shoot like every second on the A6000 and the A7R3, i went slower like every 5 seconds to make sure it's not a recycling problem.

**Edit: I also shoot indoor yesterday with the client.

Now that Carlo has had some time to shoot with the Sigma 135, I'm really interested to hear his thoughts of it vs the 135ZA.

I suspect the Sigma may be everything (and more) the 135ZA is, but more refined and available across multiple mounts.

It seemed like Roger from LR thought the Sigma held the APO to pretty much a draw, and the APO is slightly better optically than the ZA (read: amazing).

At the end of the day, I don't know if the Sigma 135 is enough to switch me to an a7rii--but it sure gives me something to think about.

I never directly compared them, but the Sigma is definitely sharper, however, the Sony takes the cake hands-down for rendering and bokeh. All things equal, I'd shoot the Sony, but as a portrait lens, eye AF takes precedent so if you're on an a7 body, I'd get the Sigma.

Interesting. Not sure what is up then Vinz. Have you tried a regular speedlight to make sure its not the hot-shoe connection or something?

Also try toggling EFC-S on and off to see if that does anything.

Because of your reply, i tested on-camera speedlight(Godox V860II), 30/30 perfect. Maybe a trigger issue? I just updated the firmware of the X1t. I'll try my other X1T.

Could be. Also maybe try switching between. Manual. Flash and TTL....maybe it's a TTL bug?

i am in manual all the time. I threw the same questions on a couple of FB groups and about 4 have the same issue. Also mentioned the A6000 and the A7II don't have this issue at all.

**Edit: I think it's not the X1T. I removed it from the Camera and just used the test button, zero misfires and pressed faster like every second since i'm at 1/128th.

Bianchi, Gene will know before I will; I bet his is on a UPS truck today or tomorrow.
I'm still a week or so out. It's ordered but I went the Greentoe route to save a couple
bills and the penalty is having to wait a few tiers.

I'll make a prediction. With 1.4TC it should be fine. With 2.0TC it is gonna suck, that F11
thing :(
Now this might sound crazy but I'm keeping the 2.0+100400gm on the a9 and putting
the 70-300G on the a7Riii.
You might remember this shot with the 70-300G, a whole string of them this one plucked from 20, but enough for me
to see the 70-300G is a great lens for what I do, and it was after seeing this I sold the 1DXii.

I know what you wanna do and it makes sense for wildlife. 800 for distance and no time to exchange lenses for the action, you just jump to the 70-300 for closer in.
I do it all the time with my Canon's

MedicineMan4040 wrote in post #18526594 (external link)
Haha! Well it was about time I tried the 100400 on the a7rii. Truthfully I wouldn't
try BIF with that combo but for wildlife portraits it is goodness. Soon enough
I'll try the 100400 on the Riii down your way Mickey. Speaking of, have a driveway
for the campervan? Everything campground wise is booked up near Viera :(

I have acreage even have a plug for rv's .. your welcome
I was just in Viera the day before Christmas and I captured a gator swallowing a fish that was wider than a flounder, he could not get the whole thing in his mouth as the fish was so wide. That was a first for me. I also know another wildlife area that's close where on the same day I captured Scrub Jays. ( Think blue jay. I had them landing on my head, my friends head my wifes head. Friendly little guys.. I have a few more locations close for deer, and another for white pelicans that come every year. Also a rookery for Roseta Spoonbills.

I'll be able to give you my impressions of the 2x extender and 100-400 GM mounted on the a7riii soon but I don't have the 1.4x yet. I may not either since I've been so happy with the 2x.

Looking forward to it gene, Thanks
