Well crap...I did not need to see this. :p

Remember say the word and I can ship to you before you buy. Or LensRental has been a tool I've used
before several big purchases. I just love the convenience of something I won't use much--does that make sense?

A touch of good news for me. The 400DOii + MBv0.57 works really well on the A7Riii. I finally got around to testing
point to point focus acquisition this afternoon. I waited until it got warm (20F). I think the Riii will make a great backup
for the a9. In fact I had a fantasy of actually finding a Short-eared owl on this trip (leaving in the a.m.) and getting a portrait
with the Riii+400DOii and then a flight sequence with the a9. We all have dreams!

I just scanned Guy's Big Bronco test of the 24-105 at FM.
Seems Sony has done the 12-24 just 24-105 IQ wise.
It's a wonderful time when zooms are actually beating primes.

Not sure about beating, but definitely blurring the lines. Harder to justify primes for tripod work.

Charlie don't you think Sigma has seen the Sigma light shining at the end of the CaniKon switchers and has been
prepping many e-mount lenses.
I'd hope it had been Tamron, just better experiences with Tammies in the past, but my memory was jaded by early
Sigmas---with the 120-300 being an exception and the 35ART I still have (somewhere).
Of course for my interests/style I'd be hoping for an e-mount long lens of 400 and up but I think Sigma is market focused
and not niche focused so the small and wide will be the first out.

with DSLR's surely there are mixed feelings, but mirrorless, I'm just not all that concerned. The fact that we can adapt with pretty darn good reliability, a native lens should be better.

Yep! That's why I posted my comment about my interest in the 24-105. Guy's test shots look really good.

I received my new to me Zeiss 35mm f2 ZE lens today. I took some test shots but don't have anything worth sharing. I'll take more tomorrow and will post some samples soon. First impressions of the lens are that it is a beautifully made lens. Very solid all metal build. The focus ring is buttery smooth. It is a tad long when paired with the Metabones adapter but it's probably close to the FE 35mm f1.4 ZA lens. I do wish it had an aperture ring but not a deal breaker. The hood is awesome in how it attaches.

It’s weird that Zeiss gave the Nikon mount versions (ZF) aperture rings, but not the Canon mount versions (ZE).

Still coming to terms with the Riii. I think it is a solid camera. Like with the Rii + 70-300G it is a lightweight bird/bif/wildlife machine. I can
already see I can do things with it I cannot do with the a9 but likewise the a9 can do things the Riii could only dream of. They make a great pair....but
the apps :(
Poof is now official owner of the Rii.

Have ya'll seen that teaser photo on the sar admins IG? If this is the 35, it looks like it could be a similar size of the FE55 based on the size of the mount relative to the barrel. Probably an F2.

This has helped quell my CV40 gas. I had sort of gave up on the hope of a small sigma 35mm and expected it to be as big as the FE1.4 but this looks promising if it is indeed a 35. I’d be happy with a 35/2 if Sharp at f/2. The prospect of multiple announcements from sigma is really good. I hope they come in at a reasonable price point similar to the canikon 35 art etc

I had a mess around tonight with smooth reflections and panoramic shots. I used both the Zeiss Batis 18mm and Zeiss FE35mm.
8 shots each pano of 16 SR shots.
Last one is a single 16 shot SR that I like the reflections in the water.

Will definately be trying the SR app for my astro foregrounds this season. Only a couple of weeks to wait :)
