I like the 'story' aspect of this shot David.

Hehe yes. The sense of awe in that kid's body language makes the shot.

Very impressive David, having been there, that is not an easy shot, very clean, great color, excellent as always...that tank is one of my favorite places in town...

not the best pic. my test for this shot is if this combo(R3+24-105F4) can see(focus) in the dark. Imagine how dark is this place(ISO 102,400 and 1/10sec)

Vinz what do you think of the 24-105 now you've had it a bit? I keep reading more and more glowing reports. I'm not the analytical guru of lenses
most are but I did compare it with my 16-35/4 before selling the 16-35.

i think it's really a homerun lens, very sharp. it's comparable to the Canon 24-105L except that Sony can also produce a pleasing bokeh at F4 and 105mm. I remembered the canon 24-105L was my sharpest lens in the canon world.

Thanks guys! :) I wasn't going to post it originally, but I too thought the kid was too darn cute and I liked that he's silhouetted against the school of bright yellow fish.

It was snapped at f/1.4, which kept my ISO low, but I should have had my minimum shutter higher than 1/60 to freeze the fish. Nothing was sharp in this capture. I used a bit of Shake Reduction to sharpen up the yellow fish, and also used a touch of Topaz Clean to simplify the background (I rarely ever use that plugin btw). After all these years shooting, I'm still learning basic AF stuff  since my primary photo subjects don't require anything beyond rudimentary AF.

lots to think about when shooting at that tank...one of my favorite family photos was at that tank several years ago. We used to have season passes, and would go more often, we took my daughter one weekday, we had the whole tank to ourselves...it was awesome. Please excuse the non Sony photo...banish me if you must! :p

It's been windy today but has calmed down a bit this evening. I wanted to get my camera and lens setup for the upcoming eclipse so I took this test shot. At least the air was clear.
