100400GM+2.0TC+a7riii wouldn't be my choice but with the 1.4 you have AF and
the amazing cropability of the big sensor.... it might end up a wash. Not saying you can't
crop with a9, almost all eagles and cranes in this album were cropped to some extent, some
to the max.

That's an amazing gallery MM and a great showcase for that lens/2x extender combo on the a9.

From an email message I received:

Would you be amenable to us using this photo? We're a not-for-profit group and wouldn't be using this to make money in any way. Many thanks!

Do you guys get hit up by people working for not-for-profit companies wanting your photos for free? Annoying. I think they're playing the "We're a not-for-profit group" card thinking that they'll fool people into conflating "not-for-profit" with "charitable".

It happens to me David. And yes it's annoying. I kindly tell them no thanks.

I always offer to sell my images - give them my price - and have occasionally been paid.

Thanks, I'm very happy with the 2x extender. I'm contemplating the 1.4x but I'm not sure if it will be as big a bang for the buck for me since I normally shoot pretty close...or pretty far away.

Yep same here. ;-)a

Btw, I could have used the Batis 135 or maybe the 100-400 GM today. I was shooting sunrise at a nearby lake and my primary subject was way on the other side of the lake. I shot some with crop mode using my Loxia 85. Will see how it turned out.

Our hospital system here in Boise is “not for profit”. I have a landscaper photographer friend who has dozens of his photographs hanging in the Hospital rooms, cafeteria, and hallways. Let’s just say he’s not giving them away!

The GAS is rumbling again..... since getting the 16-35 f4, I have hardly used the 35mm Art (my previous walkabout lens) as I prefer the flexibility of the 16-35 for family days out. This has got me thinking, do I need the 35mm. As great as it is, it just isn’t getting the use it deserves. It’s main use now is for more dedicated trips where the i may prefer the shallower DOF, landscapes where I’m wanting to pick out the subject and throw the background OOF (think pebble stacks, plants etc). In these instances I am often close to the subject and sometimes would like something a little wider. Having studied images etc on her I am leaning towards replacing the 35mm with either the Batis 18mm or 25mm, although the 16-35 go is tempting to replace both, although the extra size and others experience has put me off. I wondered if anyone had found themselves in a similar position.

BTW I also have the 55mm and 85mm f1.8

I've used the 1.4TC once or twice.

Batis 135mm and FE 100-400mm GM: Two insanely good lenses. Really I never thought I'd stick with the Batis. I bought mine used almost with the idea of trying it for a while and then reselling it. But, the size of it is really what makes it for me. I can do photowalks with my FE 35mm 1.4, Batis 85mm, and Batis 135mm using my little TT Urban Approach 10 bag (I use my 5 bag for the CV 12, Loxias, and FE 55). Can't do that with the FE 100-400 GM.

That said, I'm nuts about the 100-400 GM because it'so darn exceptional it every way except bokeh (and it's got good bokeh imo). Hopefully I can own one again some day - having both Batis 135mm and FE 100-400mm GM is my ultimate goal

Thank you David. I too would love to own both, and a fast 35 with AF. Add in a mid range zoom with AF, a tilt-shift lens or two and I would be happy with that kit along with my current lenses.
