Totally agree but I still test all my lenses with a quick centering test. If it’s badly decentered I don’t keep it regardless if the corners will not be required. For landscape use lenses I also check centre, mid and corner crops at infinity distance at each aperture. I’ve created a photoshop action for this so it’s quick once I’ve taken the photos. This is how I quickly realised my 16-35 was a lemon

i will really test it if it's worst or not. it's not a cheap lens to just close my eyes.
i have a very good experience with amazon replacement anyway. the day you ask for replacement, they will ship you an overnight replacement. their catch is if you don't return the bad copy in a period of time(i think 30 days), they will charge your card two lenses.

With the FE 35 and fast primes in general, the one thing you want to check for is that the focal plane is not crooked. I remember that the first copy of the FE 35 that David had where two objects that were clearly not parallel to one another were in focus at fast aperture.

It's a relatively easy thing to check. Put the camera in MF with focus peaking and focus on a wide thin object. If you're parallel to the object on the wide end and the blinkies are blanketing the object in a straight line, you're good.

But yeah highly critical testing of sharpness in the extreme corners for a fast prime I think falsely create cause for alarm...fast primes are generally softer in the corners.

Woohoo on those great BIFs and congrats on such a fine machine. Mine's been everyday carry since the day it got here.

Alfredo, I’ve got 7 hours of driving to do for work tomorrow (3.5 each direction) so I’ve took your recommendation and downloaded a load of new podcasts from LPP, perapixel and no name photo show. I’ve subscribed to them too so will continue to do so if I like them, like I said previously I generally only listen to joe rogan but will be good to mix it up a bit

Sounds great Eddie. I enjoy listening to Joe Rogan too. Don't forget about the Photo Geek Weekly podcast. Don is so good. It's technical and deep dive so it may put you to sleep.

Nothing like.the feeling of opening the back hatch on the rental sub and having the camera bag fall out....with the a9, 70-200GM and B25 in it....thankfully I backed into the space and it landed in the grass....still scared the s**t out of me.

Scary moment! Glad the bag landed safely.

I would freak!
Can you believe in all these years I've never dropped a camera. I've dropped me while
holding a camera but even then have kept it in the air. My sad day is coming though,
just a matter of time.
