Pixel density it over my head but i do crop a lot. So for that perspective you like the 6500 over the a9

I don't think i can go 3 bodies oooo but that would be cool and a lot less lens changing... Grrrr

as long as you're using basic PDAF, you're still good to go. The advanced eye AF not all there yet. The current version is quite buggy TBH but there is a lot of progress.

When I upgraded, I goofed and left the Advanced Mode checked. As soon as I set it back to Green mode it works much better. Thanks!

Did you test indoors in poor light? Mine didn't do as well indoors. For the outdoor shots, I used AF-C with wide zone and center.

I just tested it again indoors and outside, and I had the same experience as you once I set the Metabones back to the basic Green mode.

Yep. Sorry, I forgot to mention I was in Green mode only. I didn't test any of the advanced EyeAF features yet.

Sold all my Canon gear after 10 years and went with the Sony a6500 and Sony SEL1670Z 16-70mm f/4. I'm predominantly a landscape person so will be adding the
Sony SEL1018 10-18mm f/4 before long.

Its for sure a big change but one that I see being welcomed. I love hiking and the weight loss of the DSLR setup is going to be nice. I've only had a limited time to use but I'm quite impressed with the dynamic range increase and IQ.

Congrats. I'm sure you'll love the Sony universe. The raw files are a dream to process compared to Canons...in my opinion anyway.

Indeed they are! I'm blown away by the low noise level even on the default iso 6400 setup. The amount detail you can pull from the shadows is way better than my 7D could do.

Welcome! The 7D was my first big boy camera. You're going to love working with the Sony RAW files. Leaps ahead the 7D files.

6 months ago I did the exact same thing for the exact same reason...ditch the bulky canon DSLR gear and go with the a6500 with a few small primes. That set up can go anywhere. I have also been blown away with shadow recovery. I have had to be careful with ETTR with the a6500. I don't feel I can recover as many highlights from the a6500 files compared to what I could with FF canon bodies. Doesn't matter....I now expose more for highlights and pull from the shadows without much issue. Enjoy your new rig and post over in the here and over in the a6500 thread! :-)

7D is bad for noise. the A6500 is a huge improvement in ISO department compared to the 7D.

Welcome to our world. Now yours too.

For my 'product' style photography, I replaced the small bracket I have with a large one to support a background with more stability. I can even use one of the wood backgrounds with no problems. I wouldn't use a wood background if the 'stage were foamcore or other light material though.

Here's a shot of the brackets for comparison and placed under the 'stage'.

And the end result.
