Feb 28, 2018 13:31 | #12617 xpfloyd wrote in post #18574497 This is the blurb I was referring to - “While offering the same high-performance optical design as other lenses in the Art line, the new Sony E-mount models will feature a newly developed control algorithm that optimizes the autofocus drive and maximizes the data transmission speed. In addition, these lenses will be compatible with Sony’s Continuous AF (AF-C) and high-speed autofocus, which are not addressed by SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11. Like the converter MC-11, the lenses will be compatible with in-camera image stabilization and in-camera lens aberration correction, which includes corrections for peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, and distortion.” Doesn’t quite say what I had thought it had Since they specify its a new control algorithm, it sounds more like a software/electronics update than a change to the actual AF motor. focalpointsphoto.com

Feb 28, 2018 13:36 | #12618 David Arbogast wrote in post #18574509 It would be grand if manufacturers would provide a yearly-updated road map of their planned product releases. They don’t have to promise dates or features, just say what they plan to be working on. Recent camera releases by Sony have created a fog of confusion. When the a9 was released many have just assumed there will be an a9R and maybe an a9S. Is that true though? I have my doubts. Sony could tell us. Likewise, after the a7R III was released I saw commenters on forums like this suggest that there probably wouldn’t be an a7 III, yet here we are. And even lately I’ve seen the suggestion that there might not be an a7S III. The a7 III looks to be marvelous for video, so should a7S II owners jump on the a7 III? Again, Sony could easily help out their customers saying “yes/no” they are working on an a7S III and “yes/no” it’s next in the queue. Again, they don’t need to promise a shipping date or provide any specs. I had the same thought, though it might not make good business sense to show your hand to your competitors before you play it. focalpointsphoto.com

Well, he's adding in images in the TVs so. . . I think he's fudging a bit. He could be doing it all with one exposure, but then I'd wonder why. It's actually more work that way than using two or three shots to get your highlights and shadows. VanillaImaging.com

I think that's why sigma hasn't included the 24-105, 24-70, 120-300, 150-600 and 500. The last three arguably most needed in Sony's lineup, and would be big regardless. Personally, I'd love to see an updated 300-800 f/5.6 with an FE mount. I've been on the fence about picking up a Sigmonster, I think if there was one with an FE mount I'd find myself buying it, as well at trading in the 1Dx for an A9. VanillaImaging.com
