A very slight improvement. Can't replicate a CPL glare reduction in post.

DTBaan wrote in post #18390924 (external link)
!!! take a shot with and without and compare :P CPL is really good on greens and water.

Oh, sure. I understand that using a CPL is far superior than anything that can be done in post but I thought I would suggest something that might help with an image where one wasn't used for one reason or another.

I've become such a Zeiss Batis fanboy, that I couldn't help myself: just bought a Batis 135mm. :D I bought it because:

1. The Batis 85mm has become my favorite lens and I'm often wanting just a bit more reach.

2. Reviews, like Dustin Abott's, have been absolutely stellar.

3. Shares the same the filter thread as the Batis 25, 85, and Sigma 35mm...this has become a really important thing for me.

4. Love the lightweightness...it will be a perfect fit for my Think Tank Photo Urban Approach bags. A 100-400mm GM would be super cool, but I know myself: whenever I own a telephoto zoom, like 70-200 or 100-400L, they mostly sit in the bag. They're just a hassle. The Batis 135mm is light/small enough that I can walk around with it plus 2-3 other lenses.

5. The worst thing about the 135mm is the ridiculous price, so finding a used one really helps. I still paid more than I'd prefer, but saved a few hundred $$$.

To offset the costs, I'll be putting my Laowa 12 and Sony 55 for sale. The 55mm has been trouble for me on the filter issue. I don't yet own a 49mm filter, and thinking about adding one (or even a step-up ring) makes me cringe...just don't want to go there. It's a pretty awesome lens though.

If my calendar image sales go well this year, I hope to add the 12-24mm (another reason I need to sell the Laowa).

Nice one David, looking forward to see what you do with it. I bought a lens today too, a 23 f/2....it just happens to be stuck to a Fuji x100f body

Since my camera and lenses are pretty set for the time being, decided it was time to spend some money on bags, lol.

Have two coming in next week.

I bought the Photo Cross 13 this morning! It will replace my f-stop sling, since the Mindshift will hold a tripod.

I was thinking about it and the 13 just seemed a tad too big. I figured if I got the bigger one I would want to stuff it with too much gear since it could hold a 70-200. I'm looking for a quick carry for my a9, 24-70 GM and 1 prime. I do like that it will hold a tripod and water bottle. And it looks better padded than most other sling bags. Did you go with the grey or the orange? The orange looks nice but I'm a boring type of person and not sure I could pull off the orange piping.

Looks like an excellent choice David. I saw some recent samples on FM and was impressed with the Batis 135. I also like your choice of 12-24mm. That will give you lots of flexibility.

do you guys have dust specs in your lens with the bag you are using?

when I had my dslr lens and kept them in bags, i would find dust specs inside the lens. ive used a different bag and i dont have that problem but started taking out the old bag (thinktank urban disguise 40) and dust showed up around the gear.

urban disguise 40 - as you can see, particles can be produced.

Thanks Gene.

Really love the wide POV here...that's a really neat lens and a cool shot!

Side-topic: Laowa is running behind schedule this year. They were supposed to have already released their upcoming purpose-built e-mount 15mm f/2 lens by now (instead of faking it by building an e-mount adapter into the barrel design). Laowa is doing nice work though: quality build, reasonable prices, good performance.

Yeah weather resistance and a tilt screen would have made it better. I got a good deal on a new one though so went for it. I need a portable 35mm eqivelant camera with built in flash and missed my x100t for that use. I just need to get used to the AF and hopefully it will work out for me

speaking of 135, recently acquired the sigma 135 omg it's so huge Art. Technically, it has bad bokeh, but the blurring power is so intense, you might not notice it. Sharpness wise, it's sharper than the FE 85, and if I had to guess, @ f1.8, it's sharper than a lot of lenses stopped down to F8..... contrast and color are really good.

I didnt have to get it this early, probably wont start using till november or something, I just couldnt help myself. I'de likely shuffle again if a 135 f2 GM were offered. So far, the lens behaves well with standard mode.
