anyone ever shoot IR...a California based photographer named Nathan Wirth creates some really good images shooting IR...I have been wanting a cheap IR converted camera for a while...considering maybe an a6000 from Life Pixel...

My 6000 was converted. I like having it. Will be using this weekend shooting Saguaros.

Dang your making me think I should sell the CV10 and get this lens. I would lose on the wide wide wide but gain on the use for astro.

Hmmmmmm

well i'm pretty sure the 85 GM is going back..

I've been messing with it .. and have been able to make it a bit better with AF speed , by being a bit more selective with AF spots

but , like i said before if i had portrait sessions on a regular basis..(twice a month every month atleast) , then i would keep it ...

but i don't , in which case this Len$$$ would only come out once a month?? ,, that's quite a bit of pocket change tied up in one lens .. i have no issues spending money on my hobby , but it needs to make sense.(to me)

think i will go back to my original plan of sticking with f1.8 / f2 primes..

i did plan to be more aggressive with arranging tfp shoots this year (once the weather gets better) ,, so who knows if that goes well then maybe i can justify buying it again later on..

Try the FE 85 1.8 next...you’ll probably love it.

Batis 85mm offers weather sealing and in-lens OSS if those things are desired. Image quality seems comparable on both.

it's certainly a lot of money to pour into, and if not satisfied, then should go back. I agree about money being tied up, but sometimes, that's just the way it is. Imagine those folks that own a 200mm F2. That's hugely impractical as well.

I think even if it were faster, I'de think twice on casual use due to the size. The sigma 135 is a quick lens, and boy am I glad I didnt take it with me :-P

I use that lens even less than once a month! the 70-200 f2.8, I'll use once a year :p

some lenses just arent used very often and the less tied up, the better.

Very nice! Stacked?

Thanks. No, this is a single image. I did use shake reduction on it in PS 2018.

If I already had an a6000 type body, I would probably have done it already...its something that has been sitting on my back burner for a long time, in the right conditions it is a really cool, unique look, I might get one after this trip to CA...not enough time to make it happen before it.

Does the a7riii drop to 12 bit if you should continuous? Or Is it only in hi+ continuous mode?

I have always shot single shot with continuous focus but since getting the a7riii I’ve been shooting HI continuous drive in af-c and really liking it but worried about 12bit. Can’t find the thread on FM I read it in

Sure would be nice to have a chart showing 12 bit modes for each camera.

I'm leaning towards the Super Color IR (590nm filter equivalent) from LifePixel. The Super Bluer IR looks interesting as well and possibly less editing in Photoshop to swap the red and blue channels.

I just want the one that does pure black and white...I don't like the look of the color ones, and really only care about B&W...after this trip, I might invest in an A7r that is converted...before I hit the smokies for the spring.
