Thanks Travis. I took a few shots while I twirled the glass gently. Because the glass is so small, it was hard to keep my hand from showing. Here's the one I composited into the final image. I fired the camera & flashes using my wireless remote.

composite was what I thought, but man, great job on that, it didn't have the signs of a composite, great job.

This one is the kid, from the fun run last weekend. I was so impressed with her, she finished 10th out of at least 100 people, and was the youngest to finish that high...and I was impressed with the a9's ability to lock on a subject and then nail every. single. frame. And 20 fps gives you so many looks, one foot up, both feet up, amazes me that when running there are times that there is nothing touching the ground...anyway...I didn't feel comfy putting up one of the other kids...so I post my kid...

This thread is outa control!!! I go skiing for a few hours and come home to another 6 pages of posts to go though!

Spring skiing here in Boise. BTW, these were taken with a manual focus lens. Basically set the focal distance and hoped for the best. Neither were dead on but IMO totally usable.

This afternoon's experiment.
Twig, drops, forsythia.
I'm practicing for when the red-buds come out. I think the red will go well against black.

But look at the image and in the drops you can see reflections in the room which I don't want.
Set up was R3+FE90, the twig with drops about 4 inches away, then the forsythia branch another 3-4 inches away
then a black piece of plexiglass.

Clues on getting rid of the room reflection please

And then cloned out your hand?

I stacked one image with my hand and one without it. After alignment, I used a 'hide-all' layer mask on the hand image to hide it then carefully unmasked the area inside the glass to just reveal the swirling liquid.

Love your flower in the water drops image Robert. The only thing I can think of to eliminate the room is to use a high enough f-stop so that the room is dark, to kill the ambient light, then light just the flower and branch with a flash. Without using a flash, you might be able to eliminate the room by using something dark to block the view of the room behind the flower.

Thanks Gene. Will try. Plenty of time for the red-buds to show.
Now what I ultimately want to do is shoot almost inline with the drops on the stem but at a lower angle (since the drops hang on the bottom of the stem) and do a 40+ image stack....plans of mice and men ;)
