Look at your last trip in LR...what was the most used Focal Length. Make sure you have that...and maybe one or so more...

I use Bridge, can it do this? I've never though to look.

My most used lenses in LR are the FE28 and FE55 but that’s not going to work on its own for 2 weeks in Japan. I’ve only recently got the 24-70 so that won’t be properly represented and this is also going to be the first trip abroad I’ve done with 2 bodies. The 24-70 is a definite, I just need to decide on a wide zoom vs a selection of wide small primes (lox 21/CV15 etc). I’ve got time to work it out. I should have the cv40 by that time too so need to factor that in

Chris I have the Pixma 100s which I like even though it’s dye ink so I guess you want one of the two bigger pixmas or the Pro 1000 (drool). Note if you plan to use Fine Art papers with the Pixmas the default border is 30mm unless you lie about the paper not sure but it might be something to do with head strikes

I currently use canon’s own platinum pro and Luster papers, however I’m thinking about trying the Baryta Luster for black and white images. My worklflow is now consisting of printing final images mostly in a3, however I have a few pictures that I really like on the wall and having measured these are 16/17” on the short side and under 24” on the long side, this is causing me to lean towards the drool inducing pro-1000 or even the Epson r800 which will take rolls for printing panoramas. I know I could send away for the larger one offs, but I am a little impatient and like thinks to be instant

My failed maternity shot of the wife. Decent shot, but I say failed because we never argue, but photographing her always turns into an argument lol.

I initially planned out some spots at a local park....packed up my gear and headed out there...but like every photogenic spot during golden hour ever, the park was crowded, my wife got impatient with me setting up lights (I was visualizing really wicked halo's with rim lights), and we ended up leaving with nothing but failed shots. We got back to our neighborhood at the peak of the golden hour, so I pulled over next to some random shrubbery next to the running trails and snapped this.

Scene is not ideal, but the shot turned out well and it made for a funny story.

Another forum Response to feedback on Capture One and of course I'm no expert - who is ;-)a

In response to some questions about Capture One in another place, I found myself favouring Capture One...

Some folks here in the past have touched on this subject, however since I live here perhaps you would hear me out. I've just copied what I said in the other place so here it is unaltered. By all mean express your experience however this is mine [and yes I still gainfully, or as gainfully as I can use Photoshop ;-].
_______________

"My 2 cents... I found that I never liked ACR whether on my Canon RAWs or my Sony's so I took a trip through DXO Elite and fell out with them over colours i.e. Grass [Yellows/Greens] would you believe, however their noise reduction was super but -I realised it was a big dead end for me as I was ending up with huge TIFs so I could come back and edit stuff over much later.

Capture One gave me what I wanted out of my RAWs, my new Sony one's but also when I bought the full blown version (beyond the Sony limited version) my old Canon RAWs too came to life away from ACR. I just couldn't live with using LR for my Canon RAWs and C1 for my Sony's so I bit the bullet and consolidated on a C1 future.

I don't use C1 Sessions as it doesn't fit what I do, I use a single C1 Catalog BUT I don't import my images into the catalog rather they go into my file system and all the metadata and edits I do are maintained in the C1 Catalog.

I watched a youtube vid done by Mark Galer who happens to be a Sony Ambassador, and very good he is too, BUT this Vid was about how folks can make LR look much better when processing your RAWs using an import adjustment and you don't have to go to Capture One at all.....Well...

My immediate reaction was well why the hell didn't Adobe do something better out of their ACR Box? You know we all start as beginners and if you have to start with a RAW file rendered by ACR like it has clingfilm over it and then years down the line someone pops up and says you don't have to live with this [Mr Galer], all this time you could have had this... well sorry more fool me for staying here...

But...

then to get to absolute best out of Capture One we get the "linear Response Curve" which has been mentioned above by xxxxxxx ;-)a and in a funny sort of way we come full circle. However I've made my bed with C1 even though the print functionality is PANTS so over to PS for that (or LR TBH)

You do all the C1 webinars , you even bought and swallowed Sascha Erni's book "Capture One Pro 9" ISBN 978-1-937538-81-1 then you meet Linear Response Curve...and hopefully by then you are proficient enough with C1 to fly solo!

Enjoy C1, I know you will if you invest YOUR time in it and I doubt you will look back".

Unfortunately no...it only shows stats for the current folder...LR will show stats for the entire catalog...which is one reason I made the change to LR.

I took a trip to the desert with my wife this weekend with the intention of shooting sunrises, sunsets, moonrises and landscapes. Then reality set in and we left later than anticipated and missed Friday's sunset, Saturday's sunrise was mostly a dud and last night's moonrise was looking to be covered in clouds so we went home early. We still had a great time hiking and playing in the desert, I got a few nice photos (I still shoot Canon at this point so I won't post) and can't wait to go back in the fall. Family and photography is a challenging mix at times but the time together in the outdoors is unbeatable.

Hey Angel… I follow you on Flickr. We’re both in Boise. Where did you go for your trip? I was thinking about Leslie Gulch sometime soon. Before the rattlesnakes wake up!
