HELP!! Can't find out how to import RAW photos to file in MAC desktop.

Help, I am new to using Mac computers. Always used a windows based computer unit now.

Anyways I can't find out how to import my RAW images to a file in my MAC or external hard drive so I can edit them with photoshop on my MAC. I refused to use any other editing software, so please don't recommend I use an other.

What? Not what I was looking for as an answer. I need step by step instructions.

Figured it out:

Insert camera card in to card reader
Click on Finder Icon on the bottom left of your screen.
Look under Devices for Camera Card
Open Card
Click and hold down click outside top left image
Drag box that appears around all images in the card
Once all images are highlighted a blue color, let go of click
Put curser over top one of the images, click and hold down click
While still holding down click, drag images to new file.

All files will still be RAW images. MAC's automatically convert images to raw if you just import the images in to the computer via the automatic program that opens as soon as you insert the card.

The OP is new to Macs and (sorry, strnge) doesn't know what he is saying.

Honestly, if you read the passage, it really makes no sence in the context of what he is saying or in a greater context. "Converts images to raw" what images? Seems the OP is shooting in raw anyway.

Convert a jpg to raw? Makes zero sense.

OP, I will try to get on my computer today and point some things out that will help you understand what is going on.

Since you are using CC:

First: RTFM

Second:
Open Adobe Bridge
Select File>Get Photos From Camera
Follow the Prompts

Is the MAC version of Bridge different than the PC version? I just have my camera / or card reader connected, and open Bridge and go to FILE > GET PHOTOS FROM CAMERA ..... Choose the device .... DONE.

Bridge will allow you enter meta information for that set

Put the card in a card reader. Plug the card reader into the computer. The card will mount like a drive. Select and drag the files from the card to a folder on your computer. Files will copy to the computer.

Done.

There is no conversion of anything. You are just copying the files from the card to a folder on your computer.

This has nothing to do with a Mac. The same exact process can be used on a PC. Copying files from one device to another has been around for a while.

Sure you can copy images by simply dragging them off the card to the Mac. But using Bridge is so much nicer since you can organise the files there as well, add keywords, stars, labels and what have you.

You can do that too after you drag-copy the files.

Sure you can, but why would you. I mean if you're going to use Bridge anyway, let it import the files as well, instead of first doing it manually. That just makes little sense to me.

What I like about using either the Bridge, or even the LR import dialogue is that it will generally create the folder hierarchy for you, if you use any sort of dated folder structure, as well as apply basic metadata such as copyright notices, and even some keywords etc as an integral part of the process, without the need for user intervention, well not after you have initially set it up. I haven't yet had to do a really large import on my new machine, which is much much faster than my old one at that sort of thing, but when importing two or three thousand plus images was about the only time doing the transfer first, then the LR import after. But I was having to transfer the images from a USB2 reader, to an external USB2 HDD, while also running LR from another USB2 drive. Because LR also tries to generate standard previews during the transfer process, it could drastically slow everything down.

Copy files directly to your computer from your card is software agnostic and simple. If you want to use other software to keyword, organize, etc. that's cool too.
