I was working on some RAW files in ACR and had opened several hundred at once (generally how I edit a batch of RAWs because it's easy to pick the similar ones and set WB and settings in one swoop). Anyhow, I was just about done and my computer crashed and had to restart. Is there anyway to recover the RAW edits considering I never hit the "Done" or "Save" button in ACR? I'm guessing not but figured I would ask. It seems the XMP files would have to be saved in some type of temporary file somewhere before being permanently written to the folder when the "Done" button is clicked. Any help would be appreciated.

UPDATE: From what I was able to find, it looks like the info is temporarily stored in the CameraRaw Cache folder. I can open it up and see many small files that were created today (I assume they reflect the edits I made) but they are .dat files instead of .XMP files. Is there anyway to re-associate these files with the images assuming they contain the editing data?

This is not directly related to the problem, but VERY closely related ... I urge you to explore the batch-processing capabilities of Bridge. You really shouldn't be opening so many files in ACR.

In fact, it sounds like you really should be opening one at a time. What I mean is, you open the first photo of the set, process it, then press "Done". Then back in Bridge, you right-click on that photo and choose "Develop Settings>Copy Settings".

Then select all the other similar photos, right-click again, and "Paste Settings".

I have to agree... I can't imagine many applications or machines being able to open several hundred assumed high res images at one time and being able to process without having a coronary.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do use the method you mentioned at time Damien but I generally need to make individual adjustments to each photo also (such as crop/highlights/shadows) that won't work with every photo. As far as opening hundreds of images at once, I do it all the time and have for years. ACR doesn't seem to have a problem with having 300+ images loaded (at least not on my computer). Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
