Ok, I am a newbie when it comes to lighting and my post will likely show that very much...

I am in Manual Mode - 1/250 at 8.0 at 400 ISO
When I use my YN in Manual mode with power at 1/2 - the image is on the cool side
When I use my Canon in Manual mode with power at 1/2 - the image is on the warmer side (while warm, it is much better than the YN).

I have adjusted the power on the flash units as I realize they are different sized, but I didn't expect such a drastic different.

I clearly must be doing some thing wrong.

What is happening here?
What am I doing wrong?

NOTE: I am hoping to be able to dial in the YN to look like the Canon was used.

I am using the same batteries.
The YN is a couple years old, but rarely used. Purchased new.
The Canon is brand new.

Cooler image is with YN/Warmer image is with Canon. Both SOOC

Eh, the whole image is warmer (including areas with light fall off), something tells me the white balance is your issue, not the flash.

Very best,

Martin, thank you for such as quick response...

In both images, the WB is set for Auto.

I did bring the RAWs into DPP and if I set the YN image to Cloudy, it matches up very similar to the Canon image. Both set to Cloudy, its very close.

So, is it the WB Auto mode that is interpreting the diffs in the flashes light output and acting accordingly?

Yes, auto white balance is picking up something, some where. With RAW, thankfully you can change it in post so it doesn't matter. But otherwise, set your white balance to whatever you want, but I would avoid AUTO, its just adding more work later to go back and correct everything as AUTO can produce all kinds of variable results. It may not even care what the light temp was, it could have done it based on your house lights cycling depending on what kind of bulbs they are, etc.

Your flashes are fine. :)

Very best,

Auto white balance on Canon camera indoors is a crapshoot at best, that's before adding a complicating factor like differing brands of flash and inconsistent exposure. Be a bit more scientific by using a constant white balance, try flash wb or perhaps a custom wb, and normalize your exposure using a target like a gray card to compare exposures. I'll bet you find little difference in flash color unless one or the other flash is failing.
