I would love some critique on these. I don't do portraits very often!

The first one is nice. The second one is ok. The third one really could use some off camera lighting.

Good images. I would've use some flash to balance with the ambient light as they look under exposed.

Agree about the lighting in #3, and I'd say the same for #2 as well.

#4 reveals the groom to have such a big rear end that putting him behind the bride in #3 was an excellent move.

Those are fantastic backgrounds, especially in #4. I've never seen clouds sit on the water like that.

PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | A FEW CORRECT SPELLINGS: lens, aperture, amateur, hobbyist, per se, raccoon, whoa, more so (2 wds.), shoo-in | IMAGE EDITING OK

I like what you have posted. I also think that you could choose a 2nd type of edit for a few of them that would raise the exposure by about 2 stops with a few radial and graduated filters for highlighting purposes in LR to produce a sort of blown out shot. I did a quick test of this approach on your 3rd image and it definitely works - sort of like retroactively exposing for the bride and using filters to keep some detail in the sky and foreground.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

These are all really stunning photos but they could do with a slight re-edit to remove the slight halo effect around the bride.

You could have possibly used fill flash in a couple of them to balance with ambient but tbh I like the use of the natural light.

Thank you all for your opinions and critique!

I should have warned everyone that this session was booked about two hours before the actual shoot took place, and I did not have my lights with me.

Love the overall background light/exposure IF you could have used some off camera flash. Otherwise, could be brightened up some. In #1, I'm not sure about the cropping. Tighter crop on the flowers (so her head doesn't look chopped off)? How about some selective focus on the flowers throwing the rest into blur? Perhaps a darkening of the edges/corners?

Just my two cents. Great overall job in the capturing on the beach with the clouds on the horizon and maximum outdoor use.
