Seeing as how the official announcement is getting closer I figured it should have its own thread. If another one is already started I couldn't find it.

I'm also looking forward to it. Hoping that Canon Rumors is pretty accurate on the specs. I'm looking to go FF, but can't justify the cost of the 5d mk IV. At $2k and with the specs CR has posted, I'll grab one this fall.

Rocking the SL2 and (mostly) the 24-105 f4 L, 50mm f1.8 STM, and 135mm f2 L along with a few others. Biding my time until a FF upgrade ;)

Ridiculous comparison of a camera that has not been announced yet. Their chart also has the 5D3 with wifi...LOL!

That comparison is made because the two will be very close in price. Doesn't excuse the mistakes though! :)

Where are they getting "environmentally sealed" and what does that mean? I just sold my 6D and 7D2 as I was planning on going for the 5D4 as I understand it's the same sealing as the 7D2, but I don't need all the other specs.

I do believe I've found my next camera! I wish it had the AF point joystick on the back like my 50d, but this looks like a hell of a camera for the $$.

No thumb stick and no dual-card slots changed this camera from a 'must buy' to a 'no thanks'. I could never use this for a wedding. I understand many will buy it for that and I'm sure it will be amazing. But those two feature, I personally can not live without. Sorry Canon. I was excited for this one but it's a major fail to ME.

Also, 1/4000 max shutter? My Fuji bodies do 1/32000, have dual cards and a thumb stick. All things important to working professionals. Does Canon think we're all shooting in good light at f4? UGHHHHHH.

If all that (pics, specs) are true, then it's simple math really. Canon wants you to buy the 5D4.

My hang ups as well - not a fail, but not enough reason for me to dump my 5D3 for this one. But if my 5D3 died... I would have to consider this camera for sure.

Godox/Flashpoint r2 system, plus some canon stuff.

The 6Dn has always been an 'entry level FF camera' and not ever a 'prosumer' body. As such, the non-prosumer bodies have had some/all of these 'differentiators' (vs. the 'prosumer' and 'professional' bodies)

  • no rapid joystick selection of AF point
  • no PC sync outlet
  • slower max shutter speed
  • slower X-sync speed

Differentiators...like what marks the difference between the 5dn professional body from the 1Dn professional body, such as lack of true spotmetering from the chosen AF zone, and other differentiators meant to drive demand for higher end models.

Canon must now realize its error in having cannabalized sales of the higher profit, higher end 5Dn bodies by putting in too-good IQ (lack of low noise banding) into the lower margin 6D. It will be interesting to see how badly Canon decides to shoot itself in the foot with the 6DII (vs. the 5DIV and 5DV)

Whats also interesting is the 5axis electronic IS and the flip screen . A feature the 5dm4 doesn't have.

These are video features. This makes me think they fixed the moire issues of the original 6d.

Yeah it doesn't have 4k but if we get clean 1080p with canon colors and dpaf and flip touch screen...thats a win. Should be good for run and gun shooting and better than anything on the market for autofocus video.

How is this entry level camera a major fail? If you want all the bells and whistles of a Pro -series body you have to pay to play. The 6D as others have noted is marketed as an entry level full frame body in the line of the rebel series. For what it is, it's actually a great camera with a price point 1/2 of the 5d4 body.

One can get the 5D4 for $3K now and a gray market one for $2800. Crazy that they've come down so quickly.
