It is not tied to the rebel. It is a FF 80D. Body and controls mimic each other. Above all other elements being different.

Difference in feature list is negligible. A 1/4000 vs 1/8000 is less a differentiating fact over the pentamirror(rebels) / pentaprism(80D 6d2) difference, dials/screens/ergonomics are almost identical with the 80D and 6D2

OK so its a 80 body with the features of a t5 :)

I don't get the Canon full frame series altogether, not since the 1D body went full frame. The 1DXII is Canon's flagship. Top of the line full frame, with the accompanying price tag. The 6D is the level entry level full frame. Obviously it is pretty far removed from the 1DXII, as it should be. But it could be better where it not for the existence of the 5DIV. I don't get that camera at all. Where does the 5DIV fit in exactly? It's a very expensive camera (albeit less so than the 1DXII) but it misses certain features so as to not cut into 1DXII sales. It's a kind of in-between all rounder, a jack of all trades. But the camera is problematic for the 6D as that camera has to be clipped more than it would be if there were no 5DIV. I don't know, the whole full frame line-up just doesn't make sense to me.

The 6D and D600 did not exist before. You would just jump straight into the D700 / 5DII lineup at full price.

Thanks and I'm not sure if they will but I didn't want to take the risk.

Mine sold for $1090 AUD in less than 24 hours so if people are going to sell, now is the time!

5 of the 6 you tie straight to the sensor. you know that full frame thing. Which you are paying a premium for, as you should.

granted the 6DII is not out yet, but outside of sync speed and 1/8000, how would your list of "many more features" look?

and just for arguments sake, only 1,3 and 4 are directly tied to the sensor technology.
#2 is tied to sensor size, but not necessarily technology.

So it's full frame 80d in a way.

Some people will never be happy when specs are released, just buy what works for you and keep it moving.

EXACTLY! Blows my mind to see how many people complain about tech specs and spend hours on end bashing manufacturers. Simple solution... if you don't like it, don't buy it!

I'm liking the weigh. I'm curious to see how it performs.

Per Canon Rumors:

QUOTED IMAGE

QUOTED IMAGE

....

Assuming these images are accurate, the control layout is certainly much more 80D/current XXD (pretty much exact) than the 6D ever was.

So unlike 6D, the II does look to be more positioned as an FF 80D vs. FF Rebel.

The 6D had almost the same layout as the 70D, just w/out a swivel screen. MUCH more aligned with the 70D than the t5i

If you don't need the dual card slot, 1/8000 SS, the 6D2 is going to crush the 5d3. The 6D already bested, slightly, the 5d3 in high ISO and less banding when raising exposure in post. It already had the -3ev range(vs 5d3 -2ev) so it locked on focus better(center AF point) in darker environments than the 5d3. (I've used both at weddings) Adding the new sensor tech with the new digic 7 will surely give you less noise at even higher ISO, 4MP increase in resolution over the 5d3, matching FPS, more dual cross points(45 vs 41 cross points) tilting touchscreen, lighter weight.
It is a WAY bigger jump from the 6d2 over the 5d3 than there was with the 6d over the 5d2.

I cannot wait for used versions of the 6d2 to hit $1700-1800. Hopefully by Christmas there should be a few rocking the for-sale signs
