Home of the Egrets - Part 2

A couple more from last evening's visit to our local Egret Rookery. I was trying to photograph their interactions. I'm not sure but I think the second one is of two young birds trying toget fed but being taught some independence instead.

Beautiful shots! I'm sure that was challenging on a brightly lit day! I would have had "blinkies" all over my LSD screen!

No. In black and white darkroom work it was a common practice to burn in the edges a bit and I sometimes do the same thing with digital processing. It tends to focus on the subject and keep the eye in the frame. But, if you notice it enough to ask, perhaps it's a bit too much here.

Egrets are bright white and they do indeed challenge your exposure. In shade, they are ok but in bright sun they need about -2/3 to - 1 stop of adjustment. I have a saved set up on my 7DII that uses a fixed SS and aperture with auto ISO. It works well when light is changing frequently but it tends to underexpose birds in flight against a bright sky and to overexpose egrets, so these are all manual - and experience.
