Wait a minute... I just realize the sigma doesn't have a zoom lock.... now this may not be a deal breaker for me but it is a nice feature to have to lock it for carrying to ensure it doesn't prematurely loosen up.

Some lenses don't need the lock however there's certainly peace of mind having one!

I don't have as much issues with a zoom lock as I do Canon's lens hood lock: it doesn't seem to work too well. While hiking with the 16-35mm zoom attached to my 5D, I lost the lens hood! It was over $40 to replace that piece of plastic!

Yeah! Was also back ordered on B&H or Adorama. Took almost 3 months before it was charged and shipped for such a little piece of plastic. I'm going to be extra neurotic when I'm hiking with DSLR gear now! :-P
