Anybody else excited about the upcoming Tamron 24-70 G2 announcement.

Slight biased because I REALLY like my 24-70 VC. But with as well as the 70-200 G2 was received, I cant wait to see the reviews on the new 24-70 G2.

I have MUCH better luck with the Tamron's in the AF area over Sigma.

I am. I will be selling off our first version if this one has improvements other than shell and tap-in accessibility.

I have been using both tamron 2470 and 70200 for the past 3-4 years. The 70200 has been great even after i shot in the rain multiple times. I have been keeping 2470 out of difficult working condition, and it still took 2 trips and $600+ to get its AF working 95%. I still notice that the VC occasionally mess up the focusing so I kept it OFF. I can not reproduce the problem consistently and so the service centre can not do anything about it.

I also use mine with the VC off. However my 85f1.8VC seems to be working correctly. I've learned to work with it. There's a hesitation just before AF acquisition.

To Tamron or Sigma, that is the question. I guess I will sit and wait for user reviews and comparisons.

Same here, but with my horrible COPIES I had with the 18-35 I will be watching the Tamron first. But that sigma will definitely be watched closely as well.

I will too. But I know that both of these lenses will be great for 90% of any casual shooter. It's 2017, both of these companies have been an a roll producing sharp lenses. I really don't think a take them out for a day side by side comparison 'real world' review is going to produce any substantial differences. One will probably focus a tiny bit faster, one will likely have a tiny bit less CA, etc. But someone using this for everyday portrait sessions will be able to produce fantastic images with either lens.

I want to see reviews from actual wedding photographers using the lenses(most likely not side by side however) during weddings, how did it respond to the stress of low light situations and fast moving scenes. That's the key. Were moment's missed? Was the photographer confident the lens was going to nail the shot? And most everyday reviewers aren't going to put it through that type of comparision. For me to upgrade our current Tam with either the new G2 or the Art , it needs to best ours during receptions. Otherwise I will bite the bullet and go Canon next spring. I have a feeling I'll end up renting them for my final decision though.

I am dying for these (S/T) to be out and reviews coming in. I am trying to resist buying the Canon 2.8 vii version. 2.8 with stabilization is what is keeping me from dropping the coin on the Canon. Hard 3 months to come....

My Sigma 18-35 1.8 Art sold today. Maybe buy a used 24-70 or 24-105 that I can resell in 3-6 months and not loose much if any.

I seen one review on youtube with the new lens. But there is not much to it. More along the lines of I got this lenses and I like it. His sharpness test was to take a pic of his camera man.

I dont buy anything until Dustin Abbbott does a review

While I wait, I figured I would add a full frame to my bag. The new 5d mk iii should compliment the 24-70 which I choose. Based on the Sigma testing/reviews, it will likely be the Tamron or Canon.

At least I will have something new to play with while I wait...

Depend on your needs you could also look at the present 24-70 VC. The new one will have the same lens grouping and optical set up. So I am not sure how much sharper it will be over the old one. I have the first version of this lens and really like it, about the only thing I would list as a draw back is its low light focus acquisition and speed. If the new one is an upgrade in those areas it would be great.
