Do you have a link to this rebate? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks.

I've been a lurker here for some time but this thread has finally gotten me to post. I'm probably going to trade in my Lumix G7 for an SL2. I got the mirrorless camera because I wanted a smaller body than my 60d for travel. I still have the 60d and love it (although I'm waiting to see if the 90d is truly coming in the spring) but an SL2 would give me a second body that uses my Canon lenses. Not sure why I didn't think of this to begin with...

I just picked up one tonight in white. Love the color and the silver/white lens. I wish they made more of the base lenses in these colors. A 50/1.8 or a 55-250 in the silver/white would be nice. Its gonna be my knock around camera since my 7D2 and 5D4 are my work for pay cameras and I dont wanna jeopardize any downtime. Its in my sling bag with a 40/2.8, Tokina 11-17/2.8 and a 55-250. Might add in a 50/1.8 or an 85/1.8 just for kicks.

Get the 24 STM. It's sharp as. Same size as the 40 STM but a lot sharper (well, mine is).

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Well, I did it! Traded in my Panasonic G7 for an SL2. I've only charged up the battery and shot a few shots in my office just to make sure everything works as it should. Using my 50mm 1.8. I'm pretty impressed with the image quality at ISO 1600. Also, once you go in and turn off all the "guided" stuff that I'm sure is helpful to beginners, operating this little camera is much like operating other DSLR's. I've still got my gripped 60D, but it will probably be traded in next. I'm waiting to see if the rumors about the 90D are true. If they are, I'll consider getting a 90D or see if the 80D gets marked down. Regardless, this little SL2 is going to make a fine travel camera. Thanks to folks on this forum who helped me make this decision...

thought about it to avoid carrying around my 17-50/2.8 which is kind of heavy.

That's a tough choice. The primes are lighter, but you lose the stabilization and also the ability to zoom. I wouldn't switch to these primes if I already had that zoom, but I suppose when the goal is to get your gear to be as light as possible - especially when you're using the SL2 - it would make sense.

I agree: why get a 77D if I can buy a 80D for the same or not much more money?
An SL2 with the 80D,77D,T7i focus system would make many Sony a6xxx or Fuji x series think twice about their options
I am waiting for Canon bring some November rebates and I think will pull the trigger on an SL2 , I think it will be a nice travel, throw in the bag camera for me

ehh I have an XT1 and I would never take a SL2 over it no matter how many points. the one other big issue is the pinhole size viewfinder in it vs the massive EVF you get with the XT1. Plus lenses for the Fuji are still smaller if you want something small and light for travel.

My gear
Fuji X-T2, Fringer Pro EF-X, 14 f2.8, 18-55 2.8-4 OIS, 35 f2, 50 f2, 90 f2, 55-200 3.5-4.8 OIS, Tamron 150-600 G2 VC
Sony RX100 II

Canon store is selling refurbished 80d with 18-55mm and 55-150mm lens for $650. I never seen xxD models going for this low without new model on the market.
