Here's a suggestion which I think would reduce load time and server traffic for both POTN & 3rd party.

When clicking on a link, such as "new post" instead of showing the normal page at the 15 posts interval and positioning to the new post(s), which could for example be #10 on the page, I would like to see the page begin with the linked post. - I already have seen the previous posts and loading the images in those previous (example: 9) posts is unnecessary.
It would also benefit people browsing from mobile devices and those with low bandwidth.

Of course it could be made optional in the user's profile.

Thanks for considering this.

I see the advantages of your proposal for threads that consist of a series of independent pictures, but there are disadvantages for threads that include discussion. People reply to a post without quoting it (as I'm doing here), and most of us have imperfect memories that can't reconstruct the post replied to, which may be a year or more old. There are talky threads in the Lounge and in Business of Photography, for example, where a reader needs continuity with multiple posts before the current one. Then, for image threads, many posts are comments on photos above; you might want to have the originals handy. This applies particularly to Critique Corner.

When judging or voting in a weekly challenge, I'd like to see all the entries together.

Sometimes a post reads as follows:

^ This.

In short, context can be important. Let me be the first to endorse this part:

Of course it could be made optional in the user's profile.

Hi OhLook, thanks for commenting. I'd actually thought of that, but - for one - there is the link when a post replies/quotes a previous one, and - second - there still is the link to previous page(s) which often enough is necessary today as the replied-to post dates back a day or ten.

If that is not convenient enough, the feature would be optional after all ;-)a
