Some more shots of a Kingfisher from early this morning. Again the light was poor and I had to raise the iso to 1600 but at least it came fairly close.

Lovely detailed shots Kevin, very nice indeed.

You are certainly making the most of the opportunity, not often easy to get them close and confiding.

Thanks for sharing

Kev

Exceptional images Kevin, simply perfect. If we this species here I would have a hard time pulling myself away to shoot anything else. Such beautiful birds. BTW, these are further proof that the 1.4 TC on the 500L version 1 holds its own pretty darn well.

Wonderful shots, but I was wondering how you can tell she's a juvenile.

Thank you, the lense performs well with and without the x1.4 extender. Both are version 1 but I have done mfa with FoCal which made a great difference.

Thank you. Juveniles have a white tip to the bill when they leave the burrow which fades to black as they get older. They also have a muddy breast as compared to the adults orange breast. The real clincher is the colour of the feet which is browny orange in juveniles and orange in adults.
