I Took A 7D Mark II And Snapped Photos Non Stop Until The Shutter Died

Crazy? Sure. The camera had an LCD defect, and I've always wanted to see what would happen if you started taking photos NON STOP and kept going. How long would it last? We've all seen the 7D on fire, in freezers, dropped, etc...but I hadn't seen anyone just keep taking photo after photo after photo. You get the idea. I did this test at the 10FPS shutter setting.

Anyway, I did a few things in this test:
1. Saw how many "photos" it could take in a row on battery power only (not saving photos though, just shutter actuations)
2. How much heat the camera generated, compared to another camera in ambient temp
3. How long the shutter lasted...and what happened when it finally went out.

Again, I know this is crazy...

Wow, talk about a torture test!

One HAS to assume that if those 199K plus shots were spread out without the heat, and friction of constant movement that that same camera would have let you take a lot more images.

that's what I'm thinking/other people have mentioned as well. I don't know how the shutter mechanism is oiled or whatever, but surely the repetitive nature of this caused the premature demise of the camera.

Did I get it right? Did you destroy fine camera only because of an LCD defect?
Was it beyond of repair?

Agreed, that is an odd test to ruin the camera over, one that isn't particularly useful even. Nobody is ever going to shoot a camera in that that type of usage. Oh well, at least they had fun doing it.

I can't believe here is no spare refub LCD parts for this camera on ebay.

People torture test perfectly good Glocks to see their limits, no reason it's wrong to do it for a camera.

Cool test, nice to see the rating is bang on though I'm sure it definitely would have gone longer with normal use as no electronics like heat build up from constant use like that.

Was the camera still under any form of warranty? Also, please keep us posted on what Canon has in the way of comments when you send it in for repair.
